Since there are soo many attacks on my outpost and I built a crematorium to deal with the corpses, I noticed if I shift+right click on a corpse, I get "to gut animals".

I then had the idea to get meat from those corpses, but they would not do it...
Is it possible to become cannibals?

Next question about production chains. It is not possible to make recipes optional depending of what is available?
If I tell him to produce "cooked meat" from meat and "Kaustangen" from cactus, he would not start making Kaustangen until he made some cooked meat :(
I think it would be better to make those optional and not in order with the highest quality if available. For example if you have bread, you make meat wraps, if not you make cooked meat and so on.

p.s. Oh, I see. Animals just have raw meat as "death_items" and are looted normally. But every type of animal has this setting individual. Can you not have the same for humans or other races in general without touching each character?
Problem would be, that other NPC would then also loot humanoid corpses for meat...

OK, I made a mod for testing. Just dust bandits and hungry bandits drop some raw meat, thinking that NPC would not loot raw meat anyway, but just pass the corpse.

This works just fine, I put like 1 Raw Meat for Slaves and 3-5 Raw Meat for i.e. bandits. If we kill them in front of our outpost, they are just like animals. First collect meat, then put them into the furnace... then cook :)
you can put on death items into characters, problem is, it can go onto yuor characters too, and removing them will kill them.

I don't understand. For the bandits, the raw meat (dead_items) only spawns if they are positive dead. As long as they are dying or are unconscious, they do not spawn meat.

The bandit raids feed my whole group :P

Given how active you are around the different forums, any chance you could encourage modders to upload to Nexus and/or ModDB, please? I'm aware that it would be at the discretion of the modders themselves, but a little encouragement from yourself and the folk at Lo-Fi really wouldn't go amiss in this regard.

The problem with Steam Workshop is that unless you have a Steam account and the game registered there, it's impossible to download any of the mods. I know, because I went through the lengthy process of reactivating an old Steam account last used in 2012, just to see if I could then download Kenshi mods from Steam Workshop. However, whilst I could 'subscribe' to the page of the mod and modder, there was no way to download them.

Alas, one of reasons many GOG users detest Steam and any such DRM locking access to content. Likewise, we are also missing out on a huge number of great mods and last time I checked, there's well over 1700 mods for the game at Steam Workshop, yet the selection elsewhere is pitiful by comparison.

Just to give readers of this post some idea for context, there are almost 300 mods at Steam Workshop that have been added or updated since 6th December. At Nexus there are about 30.

Many of the most useful and/or functional mods simply aren't available at Nexus or ModDB, which is a huge shame, because if it remains that way, the scope of possibilities for Kenshi to users here is otherwise lost.

I am OK, Steam-Mods are made by Steam-Users for Steam-Users in their closed environment.

I did put a farm mod up today to Nexusmods and can upload that Raw-Meat from human corpses if you like. Many of those on Nexesmods actual change too much in one mod for my taste. They should make small mods, users can combine to their liking.

p.s. I created a job with XnConvert to enhance the textures, giving them more colour and a darker tone... unfortunately it has no parallel processing. This may take some time, textures by textures. But the result looks good!

Small mods are always good, as you say. Easier to find conflicts if something goes awry, I always find. Likewise, gives more choice regarding what to use, or not, as the case may be.

Those images look great BTW, so quite the project you're working on there :)

340 textures and about 3.5h to go just running the batch job. Then ingame check and decide on compression and so on, if necessary. I tested and noticed a light red shine in the desert so far, but looks great ingame of what was done so far.
I will not run everywhere, but assume it all looks good if it does in my area :P Then if I stumble upon something, I fix it.
i can not encourage anyone to upload mods to Nexus
if you would like someone to upload their mod, go to their mod page and leave a comment in the comments section.
thats the best i can offer.
I usually use the mod because it's so much more convenient, so you can try it too.
