Is it only online? I tend to play multiplayer games with my eldest and I don't want to deal with an Internet requirement.

Yes, it's online through your GOG Galaxy friends list. You can't play a LAN game, and you can't play with people who bought it on another store like Steam or Epic. I just refunded it for that reason.

I just came here to post the same question. Was almost about to buy the game. Looks and sounds pretty good, but I am one of those idiots who prefers splitscreen > lan > internet

Strange how times changed in that regard. If the game gets splitscreen I will buy it. If the game gets girls/ladies in bikinis or less and without helmets I will buy it without even thinking.
I still want split screen. Would have bought it instant if the game had split screen
Has anyone been able to get the coop to work? For me, it says it's looking for the network in the beginning, then I get the coop multiplayer requires network connection message, and then cooperative is grayed out (assuming it couldn't find it). Firewall settings are all good so nothing I could see is blocking the connection.
I to get an error "multiplayer co-op requires internet connection" and despite having an active internet connection I have cooperative option grayed out....

Will this be fixed or can we refund product?
Coop technically works, in general. I didn't experience any problems actually establishing a session, i. e. joining and staying in a game worked fine.

However, just as a warning, the coop experience once playing was abysmal for us. It's all pretty fine for the host, except that it looks like the coop partner lags a lot. The partner however has to deal with a lot of lag and sync problems, including being teleported back to previous positions (in extreme cases even 10 seconds of moving or more are lost, multiple times), the game world not updating properly (breakable walls stay intact after breaking, eaten orange goos are still there, grappling seeds can't be placed, ...), the proton tether being very unreliable with janky camera movement so grappling is a real risk or all kinds of stuff just not working for the partner at all so you have to let the host do it. We got surprised with new ways the game breaks for the coop player right until the very end. It's completely inconsistent - you can still finish the game that way, even 100% as we did, but it's frustrating.

I have no idea if it's an isolated problem for us (four people in three different households). Apparently it works fine on Steam, because we had another pair of players there. Swapping hosts didn't help. It's definitely an odd one out for us, we play other games too and they work fine, even over Galaxy.

EDIT: "breakable walls stay broken" made no sense, also fixed some minor grammatical errors

Same here…
I'm having the opposite problem suddenly. Not having much lag or desync, even on the non host but now I can't get the actual co-op game to remain connected. After about 2 minutes of play we're constantly getting booted out saying "Lost connection to co-op player". Was working fine about a week ago, we've played up to about 45% completion according to the save file when we load in. Now it's unplayable.

We're both on the same connection and it doesn't drop internet or anything when we get booted. Have restarted router, both PC's, verified via GOG Galaxy.

Anyone know if there's anything we can do? We were really enjoying the game so would be gutted if we can't finish it.

It seems like Co-Op is not working at all for me. My brother and I are trying to play. We are using the same launcher with the DLC and all, but we get connection errors every time. Does anyone have any clue as to what might be causing this issue?

same problem here. coop worked great over a few sessions, now at ~35% completion, and we can't play more than 4 minutes without losing connection. i am host. my partner (with new gaming PC) describes flashing and lagging on his end, then lost connection. has happened last 2 sessions during last week in Jan. each time we tried 3 times. then played something different.

I have encountered exactly the same problem. The first time we played, the game ran smoothly for an hour or so. Now we keep getting the message "Lost connection to co-op player" after a few minutes...

A user on Reddit suggested that a possible solution is to add various GOG processes to the trusted list of your antivirus/firewall (https://www.reddit.com/r/playsavageplanet/comments/lawtbp/coop_gog/), but I haven´t tried that yet. It seems unlikely this would solve the problem -- I would expect that online game would be impossible in the first plae if the application is blocked by a firewall.
