The first part of the critically acclaimed series of turn-based tactical combat is now available on GOG.com for $9.99.
Expand, exploit, explore and exterminate; that's the essence of Jagged Alliance. From 60 different characters create a commando force of mercenaries and fight the evil Santino to regain control of the island of Metavira. The game is an intense mix of turn-based tactical strategy and role-playing. The turn-based gameplay lets you plan your every action and the simple yet effective character development system gives you a chance to gather a group of the best mercenaries. Lock and load, you're on a mission!
So why is this $9.99 when JA2 is $5.99? BTW, I've never played either. Did the sequel not live up to the original?

Just wanted to ask the same question. 10 dollars, well, a little bit too much for my taste ...
Because of different publisher. I guess we have first dairyman here :)
But it's still badass game.

Keep in mind that Unfinished Business is actually a standalone expansion of JA2, not the full 2nd game.

Same could be said for Deadly Games (as in a standalone expansion to JA 1), which is $9.99 as well.
I'd love to get all the games, even though I own Deadly Games already, but I'm thinking $19,98 is a bit steep for two almost exactly similar games. We'll see.

That's likely not the issue. If X-COM 1 is regarded as the Messiah of squad-based tactical games, JA2 would be the Second Coming.
So, it's probably the publisher's call. There'll likely be a Jagged Alliance megapack somewhere down the road, containing all the games for a lesser price: might as well just wait that out.

I hope you're right. I'd like to give it a try. But second coming or not, I have a problem with 10 bucks for a 14-year-old game. But I wouldn't pay that for X-Com either.

It's JA2 that's supposed to be the second coming, which is only 9 years old. :P Anyway, I don't really see how the game's age would be a factor here. More precisely, I don't see how recent games would be worth 50$, if 10$ is too high for X-COM, a game that's considered the best of its kind even after one and a half decade.
My problem is that you're paying the price of the full game for the (standalone) addon. I know this is a matter they've already decided on, but to me, paying the same price for an addon is unheard of, even if it's a ridiculously low price as $9.99 for such great games.

I have to agree with those that say the price of this is too high. I'm surprised that at this price it's not even bundled with Deadly Games. Even JA2, a much superior sequel, shouldn't cost $10 given the age of these games.
Sacred Gold is a nice news

+1 to get your post back to zero since someone obviously does not like Sacred Gold...
Jagged Alliance is an incredible game. Well done GOG!

I can't believe some people are complaining about paying 10 bucks for a game, sequel, expansion, stand-alone expansion, or whatever..
I suppose if GOG charged 2 bucks and 4 bucks a game, people would feel 4 bucks was a rip-off.
