1.13 allows you to change resolutions but you do need to edit the ini file IIRC.

Make sure that you copy the advice given on how to install the mod and its patches in the proper order. The Bear's Pit is an amazing location for all things Jagged Alliance. Consulting it will almost always lead to whatever help one's looking for. The community's tight and very happy to help, as long as one asks nicely!

I played 1.13, in my opinion it's very bugged mod, though you can easily and totally configurate the game by editing files.

How should I edit it?

Assuming you have a correct installation of JA2 1.13 (and not of UB, I don't think there is a 1.13 version of UB), the JA2.ini will contain the following lines

SCREEN_RESOLUTION = 1

Change the SCREEN_RESOLUTION = 1 to the resolution you want.

Recently, Gennady continued the work of Tron who started Stracciatella a Jagged alliance 2 source code based project. Goal of Stracciatella is plainly fixing of bugs and increasing portability while keeping the balance (in contrast to 1.13)

Guys, do I need a mod to run UB in 1024*768?
Id like to go thru JA2 + JA2UB without 1.13 if possible...

I don't think there is a resolution mod for UB unfortunately, or at least if there is one, it's not on Kermi's Repository. So you'll probably have to play at 640x480 or tell us what you dislike about 1.13 so we can change your mind ;)

Dont get me wrong about 1.13. I play every game in its original state first and only then I go for mods in case of second replay. Its like having an extra topping on already delicious cake.
Shame with UB low resolution, really surprised no mods is available. Gonna check widescreengaming.
It seems that Im looking for a way to tweak 1.13 to vanilla while keeping 1.13's higher resolution :-)

The JA2_Options.ini has quite a lot of tweakable things there, so you should be able to get it quite close to vanilla (will probably need to tweak a few more inis though). I'm not sure if the 4870 stable version has support for UB, or if you need to get the svn version, with all the features and bugs that means.
