Pretty much what the topic says. The game runs fine, and I can alter some graphics, audio and control options in-game, but I would like to mess around with the external configuration utility, as it usually gives you more options than in-game menus.

I tried running it with all sorts of compatibility boxes checked and unchecked, running as admin and all sorts of previous OS compatibility modes, to no avail.

If the options it gives me are exactly the same ones I get when accessing the options menu while playing the game, though, just let me know because then this wouldn't justify having a working settings utility separate from the game, and I can just adjust the game via its own options menu.

Reading and checking the forum for similar question would have saved you the bother

I already answered your question in the topic just before yours.......

In short the configuration utility options are quite limited, and with the newest graphic cards driver completely useless

Simply use your graphic card driver configuration program to override all settings. The only option to be careful about is tessellation, anything higher then x32 seems to slow down the game, also if you have an ATI, use only multi sampling (the lowest option) to configure anti-aliasing, as super sampling or adaptive multi sampling make some random objects invisible
Thank you so much for your reply and sorry for not having browsed a bit more searching for an answer to my problem... I guess I didn't think anyone would bother with a non-functional settings tool...
I also noticed none of these old EA config utilities work either. I bought Clive Barkers Undying as well in the sale, and the config there force closes too. IIRC, everything in the config is in the game.

Only w/ ATi/AMD cards, is the FSAA option disabled ingame. You can go to your config file in the install folder, and set AllowAtiFsaa to 1 from 0. The reason it was disabled is at the time, ATi cards couldn't do both FSAA and Soft Shadows in this game, so Bioware disabled FSAA option when it detected an ATi card. Obviously 8 years later, AMD fixed this and you can have both enabled.

Also look for ClampsFPS in the config and set this to 0 from 1. The game is locked at 30FPS, and this enables 60FPS which smoothed the game out for me as it was jerky prior to this.

Thanks for the explanation!
