The version of the Preview Campaign currently available on GoG (and at 3D Realms) is UPDATE 2. The version over at Steam right now is UPDATE 3 RC4.

Will the version available here at GoG be updated to UPDATE 3 RC4 some time soon?

"GOG version will get the next patch when it's ready, same for Steam.

Steam just has the advantage of the beta branches, but the patch is not yet officially out."

Am I the only one who realised that Galaxy actually supports beta branches (not for this game though)?

Anyone?

Hello?

Not sure that I entirely agree with this statement... All versions of the Preview Campaign are beta versions. Since the purchase of Bombshell Digital Deluxe Edition promised me "exclusive beta version access" then it stands to right that I should have full access to all the beta versions - which I do not. Not here, not at 3DR, and not on Steam. >:(
The Bombshell Digital Deluxe Edition should give you access to the "Preview Campaign", which is a five level single-player experience. In-game the content is called "Crisis in Columbia". Also included is the Queen of the Hill extra game mode and a Bombardier trial mode for the Crisis in Columbia campaign.

All other content is meant for the full version of the game.

I thought it was an access to the full game for Bombshell Deluxe Edition owners, as an excuse for the fact that Bombshell support was dropped so quickly and announced 1.3 patch never came out.

At least that would be fair.

Now I've completely lost my interest in the fate of Bombshell/Ion Maiden series.

See attachment. You read something very wrong.

This doesn't negate the fact that Bombshell is still a raw, unpolished game, because its support was dropped in favor of Ion Maiden development.

They could at least provide a good discount to the Deluxe Edition owners.

It isn't even the same team doing IM.

I know that.

But publisher is still the same.

I've been a little displeased with a number of what I would call "minor mishaps" along the way with marketing and publishing.

I don't entirely blame Voidpoint for this though as some of this goes all the way back to Interceptor, before Voidpoint even existed. As the publisher, 3D Realms may not have covered these bases as well as I would have liked - and maybe it isn't entirely their fault either.

At the end of the day, it only costs $20 to move on and move forward - and Ion Maiden is well worth the $20.

I can't find any objective reason for myself to spend even a buck on publisher's current incomplete game (Ion Maiden) after I've already bought publisher's previous incomplete game (Bombshell).

I could probably change my mind if there was at least some official statement about the current state of Bombshell, but Frederik Schreiber and other people involved persistenly pretend that the game doesn't exist and don't answer any questions about it. You can check local forums or Steam forums by yourself.

So there are absolutely no guarantees that the same situation will not happen again. I'd rather wait a year or two after the release.

My concerns have always been a little bit different, and I suppose that's because I'm a little bit different than most people out there...

I'm not so overly concerned about the final product, and while I did purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition of Bombshell, I can honestly say that I've never had any interest in it and I've never even installed it. While I will be happy to see Ion Maiden when it is done, I was far more excited about the prospects of being able to play around with very early beta versions of Ion Maiden (code named "The Washington Project", "Project Washington", or "The Washington Incident" at the time). The original promotional materials that I had seen suggested that this is what I would be receiving if I purchased Bombshell Digital Deluxe Edition (See attached image) and is specifically why I had chosen to purchase it. Needless to say, what I had ended up with was the same content which I had already obtained from Steam and was not what I would have considered "Exclusive first access to the beta" as it had originally been advertised. On the plus side, the version that I obtained from the Bombshell purchase is DRM free, so I won't complain about that.

As far as moving forward with Ion Maiden goes, Voidpoint is doing an amazing job and the $20 purchase price is more than worth it - and since you do receive the full version with the same purchase, there is no real loss involved.

I've enjoyed watching the progress unfold during the last year, but I'd still really, really, really like to play some of the much earlier builds from 2015, 2016, and 2017 - Now that would be the most awesome thing ever! For those that care more about looking forward (and this would be most people), I highly recommend picking up Ion Maiden as it appears to be coming together very nicely, and being able to play "Heskel's House of Horrors" right now is not disappointing.

The last time I checked, it only worked if the extension was lowercase.
