The base game runs fine in software and OpenGL, no issues at all.
Once I install the DLC the game loads the resolution select screen, then crashes with an out of memory error.
I noticed that there are no OpenGL options in the select screen now. My system is up to date with drivers.

I9-12900KF
64 GIG Ram
MSI 3090
Win 11

Why does the base game work and not the DLC, both are v3.0.0.9
I have installed from GOG Galaxy and also the offline installers , deleted the game saves and settings save files.
Time to refund I guess as it does not seem to work.

Me too the DLC won't run. The base game still runs as fine as it ever did.

I still use Windows 7 64 bit.

I have the error "this application has requested it to terminate in an unusual way" when the DLC is installed

I found a workaround.

You can go download the latest nightly build of eDuke32 and copy fury.grp and fury.grpinfo into the folder and you can play the DLC that way.

shame the community had to come to the rescue.

Thanks for the info , but I could also download a cracked version and play through eDuke32 that way. The point is the game is broken and I would like a refund or a working product.

You are completely mistaken, mate! EDuke32 is the engine that powers Ion Fury/Aftershock. The game files are functional, the problem is the GOG version, that's all. And did you know that GOG's Ion Fury/Aftershock uses a modified version of EDuke32? Whether you like it or not you will be using EDuke32 if you can get the GOG version to work. There is no reason not to use EDuke32.

I have no issue with EDuke32 , my point was I payed for a game ( that is not working )
I could have just downloaded EDuke32 and a pirated version of the game for free, but I wanted to support the DEV but it looks like they don't give a shit. I enjoyed the original game and was hoping for more of the same with the DLC.
I might sound like an idiot but I must ask - do You run game from desktop shortcut? After installing Aftershock shortcut stop working because game exe file change name, editing new patch for target file fix it.

Hi I run the game from "fury.exe" ,the name did not change after update just the size of the file. I also noticed that I now have steam_api64.dll & voidwrap_steam_x64.dll that were not in the game folder before the update. This was supposed to be DRM free.

By God, man, the game files (.grp) are fine and playable on EDuke32. You've already supported Voidpoint and that's great, now give yourself a chance and try playing on EDuke32. The game's fault for not starting is on GOG's side and Voidpoint, as far as I know, can't do anything about it. And I just want to inform you that on my 1000 year old Laptop with Intel HD Graphics, the GOG offline installer worked well, here's another tip for you to try. ;)

Did you try to reinstall via offline installers and then try to launch without GOG Galaxy? Just so you know, I had a "BEX" error every time I tried to start Fight'N Rage through the Galaxy, so I downloaded the offline installer and was able to start it without any problems. Also try to re-download the offline installers through the website and not Galaxy, perhaps they got corrupted on your first download. Another thing I'm thinking about here is trying to use your integrated GPU, if you have one. Personally, I had no problems getting the base game and expansion to work on the Intel HD Graphics 4000.

Thank you for your reply,

I always download from the webpage ,GOG Galaxy is slower to download from for me.
Mainly use GOG Galaxy for updating games.
I don't use GOG Galaxy to load games, That is why I prefer DRM free ( not tied to using a launcher ).
My CPU does not have onboard GPU.
I know I am not the only one with this issue , so here is hoping the DEVs will listen to the public one day.

No problem man! I did some research and found this:

"When the system attempts to use more than the allocated amount of memory, the application or service can stop working. Out of memory issues are often caused by software, or user-defined queries and operations that exhaust the available memory." - Source: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/qradar-on-cloud?topic=appliances-out-memory-error

Yes, that doesn't help much and I didn't understand anything either. But, perhaps, because your system has 64 GB of RAM, the Ion Fury is going crazy! This usually happens with old games that used, for example, 4 GB of the HDD and when installed on insane 2 TB HDDs the game always sends a warning that the HDD is full or that the system does not meet the requirements or something like that.

Yes, I know, Aftershock is out a few days ago, but perhaps the excessive amount of RAM is the problem. My Stone Age Laptop only has 4 GB of RAM. XD Also try starting Aftershock with nothing running, I mean, no other programs in the background. Is there a way to limit the amount of memory per application? I don't know if there is, if there is a possibility and you know how to do it, try that too.

Thanks , But still the same issue, I removed 3 sticks of ram ( only 1 x 16gig left in ) .
The game still fails after the rez select screen. It is something they changed in the main exe.

You are welcome! =)

It's a shame man! Maybe this will help... If you don't have it, install ".NET Framework 4.8" and "Visual C++ 2015-2022." Many programs use these packages. Honestly, this error is quite strange... I've never received this error in any program, and I haven't seen anyone report this error on the Steam forums either. Definitely, if the possible solution above doesn't solve it, without a shadow of a doubt only the developers will be able to shed some light on this.

Cheers man, be well and stay safe! ;)
