So, I thought I'd do the right thing supporting the DRM free version by buying it even though I could have just downloaded it free without any problems what so ever. I am also sick and tired Steam's release date bullshit so I decided to give GoG this day one purchase a whirl. What a mistake. First I need to figure out "broken install" issue and now the game is apparently out on Steam already but here I'm waiting and after reading this thread it seems like we don't get to play it today. At this point I just want my "no questions asked refund". It better work. And I'll go and buy the Steam version. No wonder this platform is in big trouble.

VWood: I would rather wait a bit longer and get it on GOG where I know they treat people like people than to sell my soul on a DRM'd site.
I like my soul.
Technically, the Steam version isn't DRM'd. It's among the games that just need Steamless to detach from the Steam client, even publicly confirmed by a dev once.
My main rule is that I will buy games that I want to support at full price on GoG and I'll maybe buy games who's developers I don't care about at a sale on Steam. Now I'm just waiting for this game to be in a position for me to support it. It being available on Steam isn't that.

And I can kinda understand why a store that only made a total of $5000 in profit last year might not be able to afford the salary of developers to quickly add the store's own installer-with-ads onto a new release.

I'd like to know how I can extract a non-steam offline setup executable from a no-DRM game purchased on Steam. Because if that's not possible then the no-DRM Steam version is not a no-DRM version. It needs to be just an installer that's one or several files, which installs a game that is one or several files and Windows registry entries. Nothing else. Anything else is too much DRM.

You just have to google what he already mentioned "Steamless": https://zenhax.com/viewtopic.php?t=1354

That said, I agree with you that having a work-around doesn't make it "no-DRM" it just means it has poor/broken DRM.. Which could be patched in the future.

omega64: They can upload it via Galaxy though without GOG being involved except for making installers for the rest. Why haven't they :/
Not going to help for the Linux version (thanks go GOG's lack of support for Galaxy for Linux). The only way to ensure same day release, is to simply upload in advance.

GOG need to sort their shit out with releases.
Anyone that spends more than ten minutes of time researching how GOG handles updates and releases should know that their process takes time, so I think the developer or – in this case – the publisher is to blame, again. They should know better from the the update during the EA phase.

This is very disappointing and might be the final straw to push me from ever preordering anything.
Does anybody know what the hold up is? Is there any way to find out?
Dont quote me on this but I remember reading once in a developer discord that when they sent a full release to GOG, they opened the entire thing to curate it and later repackage everything adding their own settings, installers, and other stuff. After they felt it was ready, they put it on the platform.
It's an holiday in Poland maybe the game will be out tomorrow.

Darq was released just 2 hours ago, so it isn't that. https://www.gog.com/news/release_bdarqb

Sounds about right. Which kinda gives an amateuristic vibe if this needs to happen on release day when "other platforms" have it up and running already.

Yet another release today: https://www.gog.com/news/release_shortest_trip_to_earth

I think we can expect Ion Fury later today.
Expected to be able to play it on release after work with some beer and munchies. Just lacking the game now. Things like this should be on point and prepared for launch on time. Shame! SHAME!

The Disappointment is disappointing.
Be patient... the game will release shortly.
