Has anyone here tried to limit the program to run on just one processor (setting CPU affinity from Task Manager)?

I tried messing with that too but no luck. It seems that the game already automatically runs using only one CPU anyway.

Yup, still trying to get this running smoothly on my system with no luck so far :(
System:
i7-920
6GB RAM
Nvidia GTX285
Windows 7 64-bit
Any ideas? I tried using -glide and that seems to help a bit with the graphic not being all rainbow-like, but the wheels are still wobbly and it is definitely not smooth at all.
Same issue here. and here is what happens with I use other stuff
stock game, no -glide or -d3d: spazzy wheels as said above
-d3d: spazzy wheels, forced 640x480, texures lower quality
-glide with latest openglide(stock): runs great, but lines in textures and no pause menu
-glide with latest dgVoodoo: unplayable slow, looks great

Are you using Nvidia or ATI card? Mind sharing how I can try this with the different wrappers everyone here mentioned? Thanks.

This excellent thread should be able to help you out. I run dgVoodoo at 1280x1024 and it works greats: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/interstate_76_arsenal/the_groovin_amp_039_i76_workaround_thread

I have an Nvidia card on that machine
same problem here, I have tried many fixes, but to no avail. force vsync doesnt solve it neither does the dgvoodoo from the very informative i76 tweaks, This has been tried on 7 machines, I repeat 7 different machines with ati, intel, and nvidia. I can get through all the glitches and run with great graphics but the wobbly wheels makes the game worthless since all AI can go is 25 miles. Please help!

It isnt about how it looks its about the game play and while it looks delightful I cant stop the wheels from shaking vsync or not.
found a solution:

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/interstate_76_arsenal/all_interstate_76_problems_fix_inside_wheel_graphic_issues

someone else mention the cpugrab program but here is what ive been looking for for months now in one location.
After going through various of the solutions that can be found here I'm still stuck with the wobbly wheels.

- using the launcher from the sticky thread
- game running in 1600x900
- vsync on, steady 60fps
-> wobbly wheels

- same options
- plus cpugrab on 60, steady 40fps
-> wobbly wheels

- cpugrab on 80, steady 30fps
-> game runs horribly slow by the looks of it and wobbly wheels

regardless if using Direct3D or Glide, I can't get it to run properly :(
Neither the launcher, nor Windows compatibility options, nor tuning up an application profile in Catalyst (basically choosing every setting for highest quality) helped.
Oh and the cutscenes are sometimes displayed correct, sometimes in funky colors or just in black with brown outlines of the objects.

system:
Win 7x64
Core 2 Duo, 3 GHz
Radeon 4870
Same wobbly wheels issue here when running Interstate 76. For the record, I get a better looking game when running in -d3d mode, as the in-car sprites don't freak out, such as the steering wheel turning etc.

CPUGrabber isn't a solution either, considering it chews up processing power, thus my laptop battery. :(

If you use D3D/GLide, VSync turned on may not be enough (AFAIK it doesn't necessarily limit FPS to 30 or 60). Try limiting the frames directly! According to this article

http://www.localditch.com/interstate-76/faq.html

the game was meant to run at 30fps max. In the section dealing with the "Jumps/AI/Taurus bug" the author gives two solutions, using adaptive VSync or limiting FPS. Like him, I've found that limiting the frames to 30 solves quite a lot of things, maybe with VSync turned on, additionally. Since then, opponents clearly seem faster, and my mortar/flamethrower work as intended.

So, try using nVidia Inspector or MSI Afterburner/FPS limiter for ATi GPUs to lock the game at 30fps max.

Iworks fine in software mode but I can't make it work in d3d or glide.

tomalexander: This may sound stupid, but how do you do that? Wherever I try to insert -glide in the target box in shortcut properties, windows says it's an invalid path or file. I've tried inside the quotation marks and outside and the same thing happens. What am I doing wrong?

edit: never mind, I just saw the Interstate76 glide option in the start menu program group. Tried it - didn't work.
"3D accelerator hardware failed to initiate"

Ralackk: You might have to run this game in glide mode from the startmenu and with the -glide added to the shortcut. In the target line add -glide at the end outside the quotation marks and have a single space between quotation marks and -glide also.
This is what I needed to know, thank you.

Thanks! This works. As Darucas wrote, the game was designed to run at 30fps max so limiting the framerate for the game with your 3d card software works well to fix the wobbly wheels. This is also a superior solution to any CPU throttler since it won't toast your CPU and eat your electric bill.

Here's how I did it for my GeForce card:
1. Download Nvidia inspector here: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/nvidia-inspector-download.html
2. Follow the instructions in the image attached
