I have a 16:10 monitor, the highest resolution the game offers is 1024x768.
I can force my monitor into 4:3 ratio, but 1024x768 is 5:4.
Nothing I change in dgVoodoo seems to alter the resolution in the game - even if I set it to 1680x1050 (16:10) or 1280x960 (4:3), it looks the same. If I force my monitor to 4:3 everything looks squashed, but if I leave it at 16:10 everything is stretched.
Woe is me. :'(

1024x768 is 4:3.
1024/768 = 1.333
4/3 = 1.333
5/4 = 1.250

Any chance you can post a screenshot of the squashed graphics that you get when using 1024x768?

I cant get this game to run at all. (XP SP3 and Win7 Home Edition). Following the tips above just leaves me with a black screen and music playing in the background.
I wish I had known there were issues. I would NEVER have bought this. I already own the game on CD and only bought this as i thought GoG fixed games to work on newer systems.

Have had some success lately with removing wheel wobble issues and improving the graphics. Here's what I've done - please note I'm not claiming anything revolutionary or different to whats already been done, just sharing my own results.
Tried FRAPS & FPS Limiter with no effect.
Tried CPU grab on multiple settings with no luck.
Tried forcing VSync through Catalyst Control Center, no luck
Eventually went back to CPU Grab and got it working, but only when the affinity is set to use ONLY the core i76 does. I had assumed as long as it was using both there would be no problem, however it had no effect until I limited it to cpu0. Now I have it set to about 70% and I get almost no wheel wobble at all.
Combined with this, I'm also using dgVoodoo as a wrapper. I have encountered severe texture problems and spent hours tweaking the settings and relaunching to try and get rid of the problem, and I think I have with the following settings:
GLOBAL TAB
DirectDraw7 & Direct3D 7, Everything else set to defaults
GLIDE TAB
D3D Textures bit depth: [Optimal]
Checkboxes (Checked if listed - anything not listed is not checked):
*Disable Mipmapping
*Force bilinear filtering
*Texmem scaled to 4mb
*Disable Texture Tiles
*Closer to real hardware
Dropdowns:
Colorkeying Method: [Automatic]
Texture Mem Size: [32768 kB]
Resolution: [1680x1050]
Gamma: [100%] (not that it should make a difference!)

I've also forced antialiasing etc in Catalyst Control Center, which gives me nice smooth edges.
With these settings I get almost no wheel wobble, nice widescreen resolution, smooth rendering and anti aliasing on everything. I'd forgotten how fast Taurus drives when not crippled... "keep up with Taurus" in the first mission used to mean "don't get too far ahead of Taurus". Now I actually have to work to keep up! I've yet to see how mortars and flamethrowers work (probably not good) but I can live without em I think.
I'm still getting errors with geometry appearing in front of things it should definitely be behind. For example, if I shoot up a building, the roof will appear to be hovering in front of the building when it's supposed to be falling through the inside of the building. Cars sometimes appear through mountains and bridges even though they should be occluded. If anyone can point me towards a fix for these issues I'd be delighted, regarding dgVoodoo its just trial and error so far, I haven't a clue what I'm doing.

Ok... Got to the point where the game will run. Mostly.
I can get into the game now. Cut scene videos are garbled beyond recognition (sound is ok, but video is just a huge purple / yellow mess).
Once in a mission, I can get smooth graphics and I have reduced the wheel wobble enough to play. I cant get above 640x480, but i can live with that if need be.
Wheel wobbling is reduced to the point where it is playable.
When I am done and hit exit, my desktop res is messed up and i have to reboot (but at least it isnt crashing the PC).

By killing explorer, I got rid of most of the purple / yellow mess.

@nutek @gamebin The purple / yellow was something that for me was cured by using the glide version...
Update on my previous post. with CPU Grabber at 70% and affinity on CPU0 only, I eliminated the wheel wobble entirely. It also fixed the Mortars and Flamethrowers. Success!
I finished the game last night, just as good as ever. Only complaint I'll ever have is that there just aint enough room in that van for all the cool shit you can pick up out there. Never got to use many of the weapons. Of course, there's Auto Melee for that... =)
Now I'm off to play Nitro Riders for the weekend, I've never played Nitro so looking forward to it!

I'm already using the glide version.

Anyone know what the commandline option is to run the game in a window?
EDIT: Also I have the software mode running fine in Win7 32-bit by having Aero off and the display options dialogue open, as well as the compatibility options suggested in the original post (Win95, the disable whatever for DPI checkbox)

Ditto for me. dgVoodoo has no effect on the resolution in game. I have read about every single post on the subject here, but nothing seems to work. :( The only time I've ever seen resolution higher than 640x480 was in software mode.

Well I just found, bought and hacked the crap out of the game getting it to run at 1920x1200 on my win7 64-bit os.
Basic runthough of what I did.
Installed the game (had texture acid trip problem)
Wrote .bat file to end explorer and launch the game
Game now loaded with correct colors.
Downloaded the DGVoodoo program and extracted it to the I 76 directory. Overwrote several files. Ran DGV it, set it all up. Clicked OK.
Edited the bat adding -glide to the exe line.
Ran the game.. with light blue line around screen which I can live with.. The fact that all the textures started going berserk after a minute is not so good. Explosions turned into giant tires.. My cars tires turned into fire (oh yeah). Brake lights were something wrong and small.
Other then that she looks damn good.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting this thing working in hardware mode. :(

In software mode, after much fiddling, I was able to find a cpugrab setting that keeps it happy without getting noticeably choppy. I'd really like to see it in Glide mode someday, though.

In D3D or Glide mode, I used to get "failed to initialize acceleration" followed by a crash. After putting the atiumdag.dll linked from this thread in the i76 directory, it just crashes outright when I try to run it. This is the same whether using the 2.0 launcher or running it directly.
