Bumping with addition: dgVoodoo 2 is out. Requires DirectX 11, so if you have a really old card, it won't work.

I just tried this and it didn't seem to have any effect at all. My game still only opens into 640x480 every time. I'm running windows vista ultimate 64bit if that makes any difference.

The reason you are getting 640x480 every time is because the dgVoodoo isn't getting a chance to work, the built in glide wrapper from the gog installer is taking over. I'm working on resolving the same issue. I know one of the issues is the OpenGlid.dll file that takes over. I had to rename that file plus a bunch of glide.dll, and glide2x.dll files before the gog wrapper would relent and let me run my own dgVoodoo or n-Glide for high resolution. I'm just having trouble replicating this same result on other people's computers. The gog wrapper just takes over every time and we get 640x480.

@sirgallium do you have any success by getting I76 to work on widescreen + normal resolution?

[s]The dgVoodoo Glide dlls do not appear to even work anymore. When I try, it just CTD on startup (although 3dfx splash screen appears). This happens in Interstate '76, and *also* in a disc install of Interstate '76 Nitro, which is what makes me think it's a problem with dgVoodo

Process:
1) Copy dgVoodoo main dlls to I'76 dir.
2) Copy dgVoodoo Glide dlls to I'76 dir.
3) Set -glide option in shortcut.
4) Run game.
5) "I'76 has stopped working..."

The D3D dlls work, but forcing a higher resolution kills FPS down to SPF.[/s]

I've got it working!

1) Download dgVoodoo 2.54.
2) Copy the main dlls to the I'76 dir.
3) Copy the Glide dlls to the I'76 dir.
4) Copy the D3D dlls to the I'76 dir. I'76 uses D3D for its menus, even if you select -glide.
5) Run dgVoodooSetup, and create a config for the I'76 dir.
6) All options to max; ludicrous speed ahead! (Except 16-bit depth buffers)
7) Also vsync.
8) Set the shortcut -glide option.
9) Cruise the southwestern US, kill some creepers.

Tested, working with I'76 (GoG), and I'76 Nitro (Disc). Will probably also work with I'76 Nitro (GoG), but testing that seemed redundant.

...yeah, I should have posted earlier. I'76 is kinda "man, what?" in terms of getting it to work on modern systems.

See, I now sometimes get explosions lingering on the skybox...Roads being paved with roadsign textures...Weird stuff like that.

It goes away if I open the in-game menu, but...

...If we both do the same things, the two file-identical installs should at least have the same glitches! :p

...Yeah, I was just happy about being able to play I'76 again, even if the explosions sometimes had road-sign textures, that I didn't update here.

Hey Guys, many hours spent tweaking i76 GOG edition to run successfully on my Win 10 pro 64 PC. I have a fully playable game looking great with glide at my native resolution of 2560x1440. The bookmark and save success makes the difference since there is a crash between missions but you can quickly reload, load bookmark, and pick right back up (I am currently playing mission 10). The above post and 9 steps really helped me dial this all in. Thank you! My notes below - PLEASE ask any questions to see if I can help or save you time.

1. Installed GOG i76 and nitro 500+ mb executable
2. dgvoodoo 2.54 install per 9 steps at above and at this link. Made sure I specified folder in voodoo setup to i76 folder instead of appdata folder.

3. copied all DLL files into i76 folder that came with voodoo zip
4. Downloaded and staged in i76 folder i76_25fps.exe (I believe this is a gold version exe)
5. Created batch file in i76 folder to run this: start /w "Interstate 76" /high /affinity 1 i76_25fps.exe -glide. glide looks better and smoother than -d3d.

Notes
- trouble saving games but got passed it - Copying save001.cmp to create 002 and 003, etc slots seemed to allow for more saving success but double clicking the underscore entry above, double clicking the white space and clicking save twice appears to resolve.
- Game crashes frequently before next mission but just make sure to save before start and when done in garage. Save, Start mission, crash, load bookmark, then go back in - good to go.
- Occassional graphic glitch during game play but esc then back in resolves
- Current dgvoodoo settings I am running (see attached also) and many changes I tried did not appear to affect game play or crash issues: voodo banshee, 8MB, texturing: memory size 4096, TMUs 1, force linear filter, disable mipmapping, resolution 2560x1440 (my native), antialiasing off, everything checked in miscellaneous except 16bit depth buffer.
- Nvidia control panel setting changes but not sure they made a difference: anisotropic filtering 16x,
- i76_25fps.exe is NOT running in any compatibility mode.
- Trip play tested only. No multiplayer.

It's probably best not to bunp old thread in my experence. It can cause outdated information to surface, i.e. the OP says that only part of DgVoodoo is installed but the GoG version doesn't use DgVoodoo, it uses OpenGLide.

Anyways, for the texture issues limit the texture memory to 2mb or less
For the save issue, check the run as admin in compatibility settings
For netplay you should use these patches: http://peelar.myweb.cs.uwindsor.ca

I purchased the I76 at GOG last year. I use a Phenon II x6 computer with a GTX650 graphics card. But I can't improve the image, everything is shaky and with poor rendering. I already tried NGlide and DGVodoo 2.76 and the graphics are still bad. Can someone help me?

This may come as a slight shock to you, but that's all the better the game looked.
