I'm confused about lockpicking npc chests too. I eventually managed to pick the lock and steal it's contents but I'm not sure if it was a skill based reason or what. At first I thought it might be that I had higher perception and noticed the chest was trapped, but thinking back to the first time I tried to pick the lock I wasn't getting attacked for unlocking it or even opening it. It was only when I took something. I keep changing my mind about this. But I think it may have something to do with your steal skill? As in your effectively pickpocketing the chest? Dunno.

I'll agree the mechanics of the game are less than ideal... but its truly one of the game that gave me goose bum by just reading the conversations.

Enjoying it very much so far... just got to act 2 and I have one page full of gem... that's not very ideal.

I'm playing a paladin, anyone have any tips on storage? Can't seem to bash one open in town without alerting the npc. Dropping everything on the floor doesn't seems to be a good idea as well.

if you have good Perception, you can spot hidden item caches like stone-piles and tree trunks in which items can be placed. There is about four of these outside of Hillbrandt's walls.

i sell all my gems and held onto all the crsytals and troll bile
i left the dead girl and 2 orchish keys on the ground in the city in act 2 and they haven't disappeared, they prob. never will, after finishing act 1 is the dead girl supposed to disappear or do u just dump her body lol because thats what i did.

Someone said you only end up needing one troll bile but I'm playing it safe and keeping all 6 or 7 I have. I dumped the dead girl too and as I have the display item feature turned on (F4) every time I go to the church in the first town I see 'Dead girl' show up. Which always reminds me of a really old rob zombie song - 'living dead girl'. lol But I digress.

As far as the keys go you'll probably never use them. It occurred to me when in the mines that keys in this game get consumed when they're used so I got in the habit of trying to open doors the normal way (instead of picking them) if I had any keys on me. That way I wouldn't be left wondering why I never used certain keys... as you are. It's kind of like putting something together and having left over parts eh? lol
