It's the guy's corpse who's wandering the cemetary. His grave was robbed and in order for him to rest in peace you need to find his gravestone. I've already burned Steigner and his accomplice but somone said that the gravestone could be found in the cemetary. Thus far, I've not found it.
Ok, found the deal with the levers, to open the doors on the fifth floor. Finally made it to the sixth floor and have cleared it out but I can't get into the last room. I have a key but it doesn't fit. It's that room with the pentagram. Tried the key, tried bashing, nothing. ANy tips?

So I just installed Inquisitor, applied the latest patch and loaded old saves from my first walkthrough with a thief. It immediately reminded my why I had stopped playing back then. Too poisoned and too dead too often.

Resisting the "new" Baldur's Gate I am considering a new Inquisitor campaign. English version this time, curious to compare to Czech original. When I played for the first time there was no info, feedback on the game but now there's the luxury of asking GOG community.
So what build would you recommend for comfortable heresy investigation on medium difficulty?

Cheers .)
I tried to read through all 27 pages (really), but I couldn't find answers to some of my basic gameplay question. If I missed them, I apolgize, but please could you help me? I'm at the relative beginning of the game (lvl10 thief), so I would like to know these ones before I scr** up something.

- During the talks people mentioned different other ones as suspicious ones, but there are no entires about them in my notes? Does it mean these info are unimportant "fake" and forget it?

- Also I got some hints who should I asked to know more about certain things. Like the guards at the gate about the bishop's missing or a shepperd boy about the missing son of the smith. I either can't find the necessary person (like the shepperd) or those don't offer dialogue options, like the guards. There aren't any notes in my logbook about these hints either. Are these just red herrings?

- Can I mark the map somehow to know where can I find the persons I will need to come back to later?

Did you see that there are three sections in your notebook? One for quests, one for hints and one for evidences. If stuff doesn't show up in one of those, it normally means that it's unimportant or that it's just considered as rumor and that you need more evidence to go on with that quest.

Hard to say. I remember in a few cases there really were red herings. But most of the time the hints mean something. Best thing you can do is to talk with everybody about everything and you should sooner or later get the needed information.

Sorry, there's no way to mark the map or take own notes.

Thank you! Yes, I saw the separate sections in the logbook, but there are no entries about those things. I just asked, because some of them eg. the hint about the sheperd was a "paid" info from the beggar.

At least the hint about the shepherd is not a red herring. It should give you some valuable information where to look for the lost boy.

Well, now I only need to find him. Strangely there are no notes about him in the journal.

Further questions:

- The colour of the items. Are there set items, like in Diablo? Do the bonuses randomized on the same item in every game? I'm not sure but seems to me that on my first "get aquainted" try I found the same (yellow) boots very early as I have now, but if I recall correctly it had different statistics.

- I tried to spare money by pumping up the Indentify skill. I'm past lvl7, have high enough INT, 7 points on the skill, and yet the journal says that I'm only Apprentice? What can be wrong?

- Do I see right that above SL5 I need 2 SPs/1 SL? Will it be even higher on higher levels?

Yes, I think most of the bonuses are randomized. There might be some though that always stay the same. Not sure about it.

Did you use items (like rings, amulets or shield) to boost your stats? In that case you stay apprentice until your "normal" stats reach the necessary level.

avatar
halaci: - Do I see right that above SL5 I need 2 SPs/1 SL? Will it be even higher on higher levels?
Correct! Later in the game you need even three points to reach the next skill level.

Thank you again! Yes, I have a ring with +INT but even without it I have the necessary points. Well, some mysteries mustn"t be solved! :))

I think it would be useful to collect these general gameplay information into one sticky topic on the board which is refreshed time to time. No quest or story spoilers, just the general ones. I know everybody sees the things differently but in games where the decisions in the very early part of the build could make it a joy to play or a nightmare, I like to know the most about how the engine works before I make those decisions. It's not a fun to replay 8-10 hours just for a trial and error.
Me again :)

1.) Found different gems during the play. Are these simply to sell, or raw materials for potions?

2.) Connecting to the first question: I haven't used much potion except healing ones on my party (now lvl16 thief). I saw that I can buy everything, except the permanent potions which the herbalist woman makes. Is it necessary to use alchemy in the game later at all? Or the situation will remain the same: have money - have potion?

3.) Scrolls. Are there absolutely random at the vendors (meaning that I'm extremely unlucky), or is there a system in it? I mean at lvl 16 I could buy a lot of different spells, some of them are avove student level (which I think technically impossible to reach at this point), but I haven't found heal/resurrection/purge spells either in dungeons or at vendors, not even one. It's a bit annoying that I have to run back to the town every time a spider bites a party member or reload a number of times just because one of them dies in a more-than-two opponents fight.
If there is a system, console me, what level should I reach to be able to play a smoother gameplay.

There's no other use, but to sell them.

I don't think the alchemy skill is very important. Once you can use it to make some powerful potions, you also should have enough money to buy them. And to be honest: I don't think I used a single potion except health, stamina and mana during the whole game (maybe strengh once).

Absolutely random. But normally you should have these spells by now. If you really want them, go to a merchant (or better to a priest) and if he doesn't have them leave and come back right away. After a few tries they should be there.
Thank you, all good news! I think that in this case troll biles and the similar things are also sellable if I don't care about making potions.

stessmer: I looked through the forums but still can't find Cardinal Truncquillius in the basement. I have all of the evidence and am just looking to arrest him. There is a section of the basement that is locked and the priest won't let me in. Do I have to use force and kill the priests? It doesn't give me the option of attacking the door.
avatar
JankyToe: Yep, talk to the priest standing by the door and demand him to let you in. He will attack you. Then, prepare yourself for a 3 level dungeon of spell-slinging priests.

I'm currently in Act 3 and trying to escort Nina back to the city after rescuing her from the werewolf's den. I've read from various posts that I need to visit Sven Larsen's home and, upon entering the ground floor, Nina will leave my party and start a dialogue.

This isn't triggering. Any ideas? Do I still require her for something else?
After the Truncquillius battle I'm stuck, talking to Welfhar only allows me to charge an innocent man with witchcraft, and I can't seem to tell him the outcome of the battle.
