Im playing a Priest on Hard mode and I can't get past the bats on the first screen. I have 20 Intelligence, which gives me 100 mana, which is enough to kill about 2 bats out of the ~12 or so that are there. Is there some way to regenerate mana? I noticed there is a skill that sacrifices stamina for mana, but it gives so little mana that I estimate it would take 20+ minutes to re-fill my mana using it. (allowing me to kill another 2 bats...) so what gives? Is there a reasonable way to regenerate mana? I've read the manual and don't see anything about resting or whatever there. I can't find any guides online, can anyone who has played this game tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Oh, I thought killing the bats was supposed to be the first quest... it really isn't possible to kill them? I thought I was missing something for sure...

I'm fairly sure it is possible and if you search the surronding area, you will find some potions that might help you. But you can kill them even after getting into the town: And in the town, you get free healing and can buy potions, so it's far less annoying.

It is possible to kill them all, I did it. There are a lot of potions and other items around the town near the trees and also hidden ones.

Yeah, this is weird. It's very useful when you change the difficulty so you can keep the game balanced.

While the combat on Hard mode is bugging me, the salt in the wound is the loot. Oh sure, on the surface Hard mode gives you much better loot. But it's no help when it's only giving you loot that you can't use until you level up another ten times.
