Hello
Whenever I run Incoming, it turns the screen black for a moment then has two error messages:
"income has stopped working. Windows is checking a solution......" and
"CreateSurface for Z-buffer failed. Action not supported."
I assume this has to do with a graphics problem (because 'z-axis'). I have tried all the compatibility modes, safe mode, 16- bit color, pretty much everything like that. I think it may be because I'm missing something software-wise. If anyone knows please tell me!
I have a Windows 7 64-bit, AMD A6-3650 APU, AMD Radeon HD 6530D, and DirectX 11.

Same problem. I've scoured the internet for solutions, but nothing has worked.
Hi guys, i have the solution for you. I guess anon950, that you also have an AMT/ATi GPU Device. I have a 7850 2GB running on Win7 64 bit.

The problem is, if you use a Driver above 13.2 beta 7 you will get this error. You need to install the 13.1 WHQL driver or the 13.2 beta 7. Any Driver above those are resulting in "Createsurface for Z-Buffer" failed.

Hopefully AMD will correct this with newer drivers because OpenGL profiles don't work with the inside CCC profile manager, use radeonpro.info for this. This fixes also the same error on the game "Forsaken" and will also let you play "Star Wars - Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II + Mysteries of the Sith" again.

Reply if it's working for you so other users know its for real^^

I confirm this is working for me. Game could not work with 13.4 drivers.
Could anyone point me how to get the 13.1 driver? I never kept tabs on AMD's drivers and I'm not sure how to get it, their site only wants me to download the latest they have...

Something like this? After you select your card and OS, giving you the latest driver then over on the right-hand side there should be a previous version link.

Understandably new graphics cards want work with too old drivers. However, although there are positives when using old drivers like 13.1, there is another problem with so old drivers. Due to bug in AMD drivers 13.1 drivers these drivers do not support any game which use Microsoft XNA platform (games such as Terraria, Bastion, Rogue Legacy, Swords of the Stars - The Pit, Reus and many more newer indie games will not work with AMD drivers 13.1

In the end I have decided not to play Incoming and Jedi Knight on my AMD graphics desktop card, due to fact that my laptop (which also has AMD card but with factory HP drivers) works with both incoming and Jedi Knight properly as well as all of the new indie games made on Microsoft XNA platform. Therefore, I use newer drivers on my desktop PC to make it more compatible with newer games.

Please forgive me if my post have technical or grammatical mistakes.
Alright, lets face it for real first. We don't want outdated drivers with our newer cards. So there is another solution for AMD Card owners (atleast i can confirm for "HD7xxx" series).

Just put the atiumdag.dll into the game directory where the incoming.exe is. Thats it. You can install the newest AMD driver and only have to put this file into the directory.

Try it out with the R9x series. This atiumdag.dll also makes other games work like forsaken (exactly same error without it) and the Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II + MOTS Addon (but you will also need the ddraw.dll as a modified version, can be found in the download section @ jkhub.net/. Hope it works for you too.

Hmm, I've tried the .dll from the 13.1 suite and it didn't work.
Neither your link works ;)

But I've downloaded version 12.8 from HERE and it works fine. Thanks for the heads up :D
This topic should be stickied.

Alternatively GHO is working on his wrapper called DXWND. Check the discussion HERE.

EDIT: Game doesn't work in resolution higher than 640x480. Still testing ;)

Hi, I'm ghotik2002 a.k.a. GHO from sourceforge's dxwnd project.
If anyone has some idea about what device capability should be forcefully turned on or off to fix the problem, I think I could replicate the fix in dxwnd.
Any suggestion?

Managed to play Incoming on R7 using DXWND :) .dll from 12.8 didn't work for me (error with Incoming not able to recognize device).
This fix worked for me. I'm using a ATI Radeon HD 5400 series card. Go to this website and download the file on the page http://www.runicgamesfansite.com/vbdownloads.php?do=download&fileid=318 - 12.8 atiumdag.rar 1.59 MB. Extract the .dll to your Incoming game directory. On my card you don't have to set the graphics to 800X600, but if it gives you problems you can. For those of you that don't know how to easily get to your game directory? Find your shortcut on your desktop for "Incoming" and right click it. Select properties, open file location, and there you are. When you right click your shortcut you can also set the program to run it in compatibility mode (mine is Win 98/Windows Me, click the boxes with Disable visual themes, Disable display scaling on high DPI settings, and Run this program as an administrator. I included the additional setting information for basic users.

Good find. This fix seems to be working for me as well. Its preferable to using an outdated driver.

Did you happen to try the easy fix I posted below? Try it, and I hope it helps you. That alleviates having to use an older "driver" that others have posted. Not that others aren't helpful with that type of fix, just I hope this one works for you and others.
