Hi, i've recently purchased in cold blood and when i start the game level proper, the characters are invisible, i can hear talking and see the backgrounds, but no characters?
I am running on xp with my sound card and video card (ati radeon 4850) up to date and i'll attach my directx diagnostics as well.
If anyone has any ideas i'd appreciate it, thanks :)

Try updating your Windows XP install to Service Pack 3 perhaps??

Hey there, i installed the service pack and no luck characters are still invisible, not sure what else i could do, weird problem.

That is a bit of an odd problem. Does the game come with a setup file or options to change how it is rendered? Like if it has a software mode maybe that will get them showing.
It's also a win95 game so try changing the compatibility mode to run the game in windows 95.

I've checked everywhere in the files of the game and in the options section and i cant seem to find any rendering options, i also tried all of the compatibility modes and still no luck :( Very strange, i'd say.

If you haven't done so already I would contact Gog support and send them your dxdiag as well. Not sure what it could be, non of your hardware seems to be unusual.

ATI released some drivers on 06/14/2009...they might be newer than what you have ...

GoG support doesn't work weekends so you will probably get a message from them today or in the next few days. I still can't think of a reason myself though as to what could cause your problem.

Well I note there hasn't been an answer given here, but I had this problem on windows XP and found the problem was DEP (Data Execution Prevention).
I often get problems with DEP running older games as I have DEP enabled for all programs as an extra security measure with the mixed blessings that brings.
Normally this would stop a game from running but in this case it stopped the characters from being rendered on screen.
To exclude the game from DEP protection on windows XP go to "Start" - "run" (on vista or windows 7 probably start search bar) and type "sysdm.cpl" this will give you the system preferences dialogue window. Click on the "Advanced" tab and under the "Performance" section click on "Settings". Now go to the "Data Execution Prevention" tab and click on the "Add..." button and browse to the games executable eg "C:\Program Files\GOG.com\In Cold Blood\engine\linc\engine.exe" Apply the changes and close the windows.
I suspect you will now find the game plays correctly with the characters appearing on screen now.
