Installed the game without any issue and it runs but it seems that I do not have a mouse cursor available in the game. I can't click on any of the menu options to start or even exit the game. Any idea how I get a mouse cursor so I can select anything and start playing?

Experiencing the same issue.

Even when running windowed, cursor just disappears when moving through the game area.
The game does not fire the actions for either hover or click.

To clarify, this is IG2 (Windows 7 x64) - Linux version works however.

I have a similar experience on Win10 Professional 64 bit.
GOG support suggested the following measures to me:

- installing the DirectX runtime package from June 2010 (go to the MS website and look for ' DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) ')
- disabling DSR (Nvidia cards)
- disabling 'enhance pointer precision' in the mouse settings
- reinstall the game as Administrator.

I tried all that, and it unfortunately failed. I've also tried running it in windowed mode, temporarily disabled my second monitor, disconnected every other input device available on my computer...

oh well. Would've been a nice nostalgia trip, but I guess I'll come back to it again in a month or two once I have some free time again :)

Same for me too, already have the DX runtimes installed, tried all the other fixes yesterday. Still no cursor.

It works fine on my macbook, the game has a bespoke software cursor and I wonder whether there's a compatibility problem with the latest display drivers...

Running Windows 10 64, GeForce750Ti

On a side note, I am on a laptop with a touch screen, and the touch screen does work, not well but it does work.
multiplayer doesn't work the way I remember..

I can't play this on a touchscreen.. would be uncomfortable as could be..
whoever decided on touch screens for laptops was an idiot.

Possible SOLUTION (works for me)

I had Duet installed on my PC. Duet is software that enables a PC display tpo be mirrored on an ipad connected to the PC by USB. Duet also installs 'Duet Pencil' drivers that enable digitiser pen input on a connected ipad pro to be recognised by the PC.

I disabled Duet Pencil in Device Manager and lo and behold, my mouse cursor is now working in the IG2 menu and I can start the game.

I recommend others who have the 'no mouse cursor' problem to check Device Manager to see if they have drivers enabled for similar digitiser devices. These seem to fool IG2 into expecting pen or touch pad input, disabling the mouse cursor.

Hope this helps....!

I don't think I can disable my touch screen, not that I wouldn't love to.
I prefer an old school screen personally.

nothing else I can do to change anything, I got no hope for this working it seems.

Oddly enough, that seems to have one the trick.
I actually physically disconnected every input device but the mouse and keyboard, but that wasn't enough.
Once I went into the device manager and disabled a "HID conforming digitizing device" (HID-konformes Digitalisierungsgerät, German installation...) it works. Saves me the hassle of crawling to the back of the PC and unplug my numerous input devices...

which part of device manager was it filed under?
can't find it.
still trying to fix this.

all i got on USB is my mouse.
this is a laptop, the touchpad is disabled when the mouse is attached.
without the mouse it still doesn't accept input, not even off the trackpad.
touch-screen only it seems.

can you disable touchscreen?

EDIT: YES you can..

it is under Human Interface Devices

fixed.

Hello,

I had the same problem but I manage to fix it with the help of the great folk at GoG.com.

I had to completely uninstall the driver of my wacom drawing tablet from the computer (unpluging is not enough). The game apparently has a problem with "exotic" input devices' drivers.

It's not ideal but it works.

Cheers.

(and thanks again for the support GOG :D)
I suppose it's more like some hidden tablet / touchscreen mode that is auto-detected.
We'll confirm it and notify the dev.
Hey,

What worked for me on my touch screen laptop was to go to Device Manager, open Human Interface Devices and Disable: HID-compliant pen and HID-compliant touch screen. Works no problem after that.

Cheers,

Magnus.
