Indeed, it is possible to play Imp 1 and 2, the whole thing is to get a file of your version and which has an extension ".gob" .
Go to your "data" folder (no matter if it is for Imp 1 or 2)
in the "data" folder is a file:
Imperialism 1
Example for the English and French version :
English version: str#enu.gob
French version: str#fra.gob
Each of its files is 458 kb, so take your own .gob file and copy it into your "data" folder, rename it to "str#enu.gob" and overwrite the file when you confirm.
Imperialism 2
Your file from your German version must be about 753 kb.
for the English version it's "str#eng.gob", for yours we can assume it's a name in the style str#ger.gob.
So as usual copy your file into "data" and overwrite it when confirming
and rename it "str#eng.gob"
Here we are hoping to have been clear and that it will work for your version, it worked well for me to switch the game to the French version.

At gog it says German, English, French, but where are the different language files?

But as I guess you have the game on gog, you can find the German version for Imperialism 1 in the Library as I showed it in the screenshot.

ja, ich habe das Spiel auf deutsch. Bin mir jedoch unsicher, ob ich die Dateien einfach teilen darf, oder ob das schon eine Raubkopie wäre.
Hat hier jemand Ahnung von der Thematik?

Da hier keine LInks gehen, versuchen wir es mit dem Foto.
Hinter dem Link findet Ihr die deutsche Datei str#deu.gob
Hier die Anleitung wie Ihr die Datei nutzt (einfach nur kopieren und umbenennen):
Von gog.com Imperialismus 2 herunterladen und installieren
diese str#deu.gob Datei in das DATA Verzeichnis kopieren
in dem Verzeichnis die englische Version str#eng.gob umbenennen (z.B. in str#eng.gob.bak damit man sie als Backup behält)
diese str#deu.gob Datei umbenennen in str#eng.gob
Spiel starten, nun sollte alles auf Deutsch sein
Viel Spaß damit, ich hab die Datei von meiner CD-ROM aus dem Keller. Hab noch die Original-Verpackung und bin seit 4 Tagen am Welt erobern. Das Spiel bringt mal wieder total Bock trotz seines Alters.
