As part of my installation file I did not receive a notification or option to install Direct Play - for windows 7. When I installed the game in Windows 8, this option popped up. I'm having trouble finding out where the option for Direct Play is, for Windows 7, or an installer. There is some connection to Direct X 8, and possibly a security risk exists in using Direct Play. Please advice.

2. Why is so hard to contact support I click on contact support and it goes back to the game list? then back to the support page? User interface for support not being user friendly is the kind of thing that just, boils my blood.

Ihear_BlueColors: Nothing?
You expect us to guess the game?

Direct Play is a Windows component. IIRC, it's buried somewhere under Programs & Features in the control panel.
The game is Imperialism, I'm posting in the Imperialism section of the forum?????????????????????

Yes. Yes. It is if your using windows 8. But the installer for this, and seemingly most of the gog games don't include the Direct play package. I may have found the necessary .dll things on a friends computer but I'm still having trouble getting windows 7 to recognize / detect it.

No it isn't in the legacy option because it's not a legacy option for windows 7 even though it's been disabled. I'm working on tracking down that ... switch for lack of a better word. But I got bored troubleshooting after playing Overwatch with my friends. In a few weeks they've flat out said they'll be busy with that all the time.

Imperialism Series. It's the first one I take it, support link. Also, did not remember my reply being so abrupt.

Wasn't Win 7 the same for this. I need to reboot this machine anyway. I'll check. OK, no they aren't, but you knew that already. ;P

The older Direct play components are included in the DirectX redistributable. The second link Microsoft is redirecting to Win 10 BS, but last I tried you still could search & get a valid URL.
