Hi,

just got Imp2 (used to play Imp1 a lot years ago) and hit one problem I could not figure out:

I took over some land in the new world, even a capital that has a port. I have developed some tiles over there and connected them up to the town with the port. However - none of these resources are showing up in my transport screen and the tooltip on these roads in the new world always says "0 transport". So what am I missing?

Thanks!

Since your thread title is about "colonies"...while in the OP you say "took over"...have you conquered that land or acquired it the peaceful way? If it is still land of the tribe, then those ressources you deployed will show up on the world market and you either gain oversea profits when someone else buys them or you can buy them for a discounted price.

If you have truly conquered...well, then ATM I can't say what is wrong in your game. Sorry then.
I conquered that land. Seems strange to me as well - I would expect that these resources should just show up in my transport-screen to be transported by sea.
just for kicks and giggles, build a port with an engineer. See if that changes anything.

I started a new game and while I doubt I did anything different it now seems to work as expected. Maybe just some sort of bug...

glad it all worked out!
If you conquer land in the NW it's treated just like land in the OW. Connect the resources by road and make sure the road connects to a port.

I am a new player and transport is somewhat confusing to me too. But don't you have to allocate enough of your shipping to Transport in the Transport Screen to be able to bring these resources home even if you have conquered the province?

Yes. Anything moved by sea requires shipping space, regardless of whether it comes from conquered provinces, colonies, or trade. All fish except that caught by your capital's port also requires merchant marine cargo space.
