Some new planes, a much improved AI and 6dof is now officially supported.
Installs fine over the GOG copy. Wonder if GOG will update the installers?
Cool!

I don't have a TrackIR/Freetrack system (play through WINE anyway and it doesn't work apparently), but what was supported before a la TrackIR/Freetrack with 6dof?

I cam across this video from 2006:

Is the type of viewing ability shown there what is supported now officially? Or is it even better?
And am getting reports that there is a serious bug with it in MP. They are working on a patch.

"Wonder if GOG will update the installers? "
I hope not. That would mean those who want to fly Ultra Pack 2.0 or the soon to be 3.0. wont be able to, as it is being based on patch 4.10. I know when 4.10 came out, it kept many from flying UP 1.1 until UP 2.0 was released.

For me, GOG should have version 4.09 as the download with the official patches available. Patch 4.10 busted some real cool mods that have never been dated (Camera Mod for example)

Before this patch there was TrackIR support but only two degrees of freedom, pitch and yaw, the new patch adds full six degrees of freedom (pitch, yaw, roll, X, Y and Z) so basically yes, better than before. 6DOF had been implemented in the past via modding though.

@Wailwulf
Yeah I guess you're right re older versions. I'm also seeing bug reports. Saying that I've had no problems with SP so far. The new AI is pretty damn good.

Cheers.

Improving the AI at this stage in the game's development (you know, 11 years since the game was in development :P) is certainly a meritorious effort - especially with the difficulties presented in programming a really good AI.
I'm about to re-install this, are there any good sound mods I should be looking for? One of my few problems with this game was always engine sounds,
I believe some GOG employee should answer here...
There's a newer (?) patch 4.11m version out. Is this the one that fixes mp ?

I believe so. Those i know flying 4.11 are not making any complaints right now.
I think it is better if GOG doesn't apply this patch yet and leave it up to the user to install it or not.
The most important mods, Ultrapack 3 and DBW, still use 4.10.1 and if IL-2 is patched to a higher version those mods can"t be installed over it.
