I am training myself on the Comrades in Arms single mission which is a pretty good P-51D mission. However, I tried playing a Spitfire Mark V single mission and I noticed some differences in what controls (no aileron trim, WEP works differently, etc...) were available.

The aircraft guides also seem a bit uneven in the information given for different planes. For instance the P-47 information is more complete than the P-51 information and both are less complete than new planes added in 4.09 and 4.10. Is there a guide which increases the amount of information for each plane in the stock IL-2? Also does it specify which have aileron and rudder trim and which don't? Things like speed at different altitudes and especially optimal landing speed would be nice to know too. :)

I did think of one other question: For the Fly single missions, where does one see what the primary and secondary objectives are?

For instance with Comrades in Arms, the primary objective seems to be to land safely at your airfield and I think the secondary objective is for not all the planes to be destroyed on the ground after the raid is finished. But this is inference from having played the mission several times rather than seeing it explicitly laid out in the Briefing or elsewhere. Cheers.

Can't really help you, have never really been able to tell the differences between airplanes i fly on the computer. But I do know some planes have limited or no trim what so ever. I believe the ME 190 and FW 109 only have rudder trim.

I think the better place to ask your questions, especially about the missions is Missions 4 Today

I've been trying various planes out both in the single missions and the create-your-own. It's been interesting seeing the differences between flying the various planes.

BTW Do you play with complex engine management on or off? I'm almost scared to turn it on myself - I've read some of the "for newbies" articles listed in the sticky, but still it seems like a lot to absorb. I'm just curious about your take on it if you've tried it and if you feel it makes the game more fun or simply more work.

When I fly IL2 I only fly MP and the servers I usually goto are the full real ones, so i believe it is complex engine management.

Currently my track IR is dead and I just can't go back, so have been grounded for a while.
