Hello all,

Got this game running well on Wine. I installed the v1.06 patch and then was getting "Requires CD to Run". I got myself a nocd crack, ran it still getting this error.

I was wondering if anyone has successfully patched to latest version and then ran NoCD in Wine?
Three's no need to patch GOG's games, as they're released with the latest publisher patch. Try a complete reinstall and see if that clears it up.
Well that's true for most of GOG's games. Neverwinter Nights has a funky error in its installer, so you have to install the 1.69 patch to fix it.
*sigh* Okay:

Barring any errors, and as a general rule (with only a few odd exceptions), you don't have to patch GOG's games.

Icewind Dale 1 is v1.42, and the patch goes up to 1.6 (in fact, cheats won't work on 1.42). I tried patching it and got the same "need CD2" message in Vista.

No, that patch is 1.06, while the number of the last official patch is 1.42. Do not apply any official patches to the GOG version or you'll get that 'CD needed' error.

If you're having trouble getting the cheats to work, I'd investigate how the game's installed (i.e. install and run as admin, install outside of Program folders - such as in C:\Games or some other folder, etc.) I played it on Win7 Pro 64 bit and had no issues with the console.

You're quite right, sorry!

I saw cheat pages saying "you need at least v1.05" and misread it as 1.5. Couldn't get ctrl+tab to bring up the console, and thought it was because of the version number.

Running as Administrator didn't solve all the access problems: I had to go into folder properties and assign myself full permissions in checkboxes. For some reason some were still greyed even as Administrator. No issues after that though, and some files stopped being read-only, allowing you to reinstall if you patched it unnecessarily like I did (this is all on Vista).
