Having a similar issue, after clicking 'create game', then 'full game', drops back to desktop but the app is running with a black window in the top left of the screen.

Windows 7 32bit, Radeon5850.

Running the game as an Admin user seems to solve it though.

turning off antivirus/antispyware may be one possible solution for this kind of problem.

Have you guys tried, in the Config Utility

1) UNCHECK use OpenGL 3D Acceleration
2) Set 2D Color Depth to 16 bit
3) Enable all the Software.... Check boxes under 2D 16-bit Color BLT Modes

If all fails, run windowed?

If it still crashes with that you can be certain it is not related to the graphics drivers at least.

Also - Make sure the game is NOT Installed ANYWHERE under Program Files.

Why it does not run on W7 i have no idea.

I resolved my issue by running it in XP compatibility mode as an admin (not sure which fixed it).

I uninstalled the game and created a new folder in my c drive then re-installed into the new folder. game works great now..... strange.

If the game was installed in the Program Files folder then you need to right click the game's .exe and click "run as administrator" every time you run it or right click and go to properties -> compatibility tab and check "run this program as an administrator". So install it in C:\My Games or something if you don't want to do this.

I think running it with ADMIN rights might be key to getting the game to run.

I use Windows 7 64 bit and had no problems except that the graphics looked a little blurry,
I corrected it by adding a custom 640x480 rsolution in my nVidia Control panel.

Running in XP mode is a good suggestion.

Someone here helped me get a couple games started by realizing my Steam client was dropping my games by it's "Enable Steam Community" feature being on.
