I want to activate the cheats in IceWind Dale, but am having trouble. I have located the icewind.ini file. The instructions tell you to use a text editor to edit the icewind.ini file. I used notepad but i get lost here. how and in what way am i meant to change the .ini file? I confess I dont know much about this stuff.

So this is what I did do. When i opened the .ini file with notepad i typed in at the top of the page icewindxp.ini. I then went to save the file but a message pops up saying I don't have admin rights to change this. Can anyone plz help me. Like I said I dont know much about this but i can provide more information if needed.

Hello thnx for ur help. I followed ur instructions and im running as administrator but when i go to save it says "access denied". Think i'll give up but i appreciate your help ^^

Don't give up yet. Try installing to a different folder outside Program Files (maybe make a Games folder on your root drive, C:\Games). Then run as admin when you edit the file. This may work for you.

I must be getting closer. Before i modified the icewind.ini, in game i would press ctrl-tab and nothing happened. I just followed the instructions and now in game when i hit ctrl-tab a dialogue box opens up.

In this box i try to type CHEATERSDOPROSPER:EnableCheatKeys();

but when i hit enter the game says "Nice try cheater" and nothing happens :(

so close but still not there, do u have any further suggestions. Thanks to your instructions i know a little bit more about computers which is good cheers.

Try GETYOURCHEATON:Enable CheatKeys(); instead.

I'm not at home, so can't check, but try:

GETYOURCHEATON:EnableCheatKeys();

I believe this is what the cheat code was changed to when HoW was added to the game.
