Hi,

First off its my first time playing Icewind Dale (and any of the same) games and I love it. Can't believe I was so into Diablo 2 a decade ago... anyway.

On my third try on party creation, made a lot of mistake with the dice rolling and party creation the first time around since I came from a lot of JRPG's/Diablo and thought the stats would "level up". I was aiming to dual class some humans but they just could not, I was wondering if I made a mistake during the dice rolls or their alignment. I don't remember being warned that my stats would not allow me to dual class.

My Human Mage can Dual Class just fine except I don't know why she can only dual class into a Cleric.

I'm almost finished with Chapter 2 (already in my second to the last dungeon) and would really hate to start over the game if I missed some considerations for dual classing.

Or maybe its a bug? Thanks Guys.

Here's my human character's stats.

1. Fighter (Currently at level 7)

Gender....................... Male
Race......................... Human
Alignment.................... Lawful Good

Abilities:
Strength.................. 15
Dexterity................. 18
Constitution.............. 15
Intelligence.............. 10
Wisdom.................... 12
Charisma.................. 10

2. THIEF (currently level 8)

Gender....................... Female
Race......................... Human
Alignment.................... Neutral Good

Abilities:
Strength.................. 16
Dexterity................. 18
Constitution.............. 15
Intelligence.............. 11
Wisdom.................... 7
Charisma.................. 9

To dual class you need to have at least 15 points in your base class's primary stat, and at least 17 in your second class's primary stat. That means your fighter can only dual into a Fighter/Thief (15 STR and 18 DEX), and your thief will not be able to dual at all.

These are the exact requirements for each dual class:

Cleric/Fighter requires 15 WIS and 17 STR
Cleric/Mage requires 15 WIS and 17 INT
Cleric/Ranger requires 17 WIS, 17 STR and 17 DEX (Good alignment)
Cleric/Thief requires 15 WIS and 17 DEX

Druid/Fighter requires 15 WIS, 15 CHA and 17 STR

Fighter/Cleric requires 15 STR and 17 WIS
Fighter/Druid requires 15 STR, 17 WIS and 17 CHA (True Neutral alignment)
Fighter/Mage requires 15 STR and 17 INT
Fighter/Thief requires 15 STR and 17 DEX

Mage/Cleric requires 15 INT and 17 WIS
Mage/Fighter requires 15 INT and 17 STR
Mage/Thief requires 15 INT and 17 DEX

Ranger/Cleric requires 15 STR, 15 DEX and 17 WIS

Thief/Cleric requires 15 DEX and 17 WIS
Thief/Fighter requires 15 DEX and 17 STR
Thief/Mage requires 15 DEX and 17 INT
If you really don't want to start again but really want to dual-class then you could use Dalekeeper (a save-game editor) to redistribute your stats - just make sure to keep your old save for a while as it's possible (though unlikely while simply changing stats) to mess up the save with the editor (it will automatically add a suffix and create a new save when you save in the editor).

I looked up Dalekeeper as directed above, but it seems to be extinct.I was directed to a SourceForge program called EE Keeper. I had a bit of a problem as it required me to enter a path for the installation of Icewind.
I can see that it is in my Program Files (86), Galaxy Client, Games, Ice Wind Dale Enhanced Edition.
Problem: how do I write this into the correct language or format? See screenshot, please.
Can you help me with this. I need to change my attribute stats to dual class a fighter to a Druid class and I would like to try the EE Keeper app to fix

Here's an alternative: Use the cheat console to add some stat boosting books to your inventory, then read them to boost your stats as needed. The codes are the same as those used in the original Baldur's Gate (though the prefix (what goes before the colon) is different in each IE game), and the books function properly though most of them are unused in this game.

Note that the prefix was actually changed by the Heart of Winter expansion (which comes with the Classic Edition): To create an item, the cheat now looks like:
GETYOURCHEATON:CreateItem("BOOK08", 5);

(Replace "BOOK08" with the code for the item you want. I believe BOOK08 is the Wisdom tome, which is one of the stat boost items you need to make your Fighter a Druid, and the 5 is the number of the item you will get.)

For the Enhanced Edition, just replace GETYOURCHEATON with C, and it should just work.
