I started playing IWD:EE last night (spent a good 2 hours just generating my characters), but after starting the adventure, I noticed that repeatedly clicking on my PCs did not trigger the various "Annoyed" sounds that I remember they used to make. (Many years ago, when I first played through IWD, I remember repeatedly clicking on my dwarf just to hear him say "Damn yer eyes!" XD) Instead, now when I click on them multiple times, they instead start spouting lines like "Done", or "As you wish". They sound like Action Confirmation lines!

So Is there a bug in the soundsets? If so, is Beamdog aware of this and going to fix it? Otherwise, does anyone know of a way I can bring those Annoyed lines back (maybe through editing a 2DA file or something similar)? I'm eager to start my adventures in IWD all over again, but it just doesn't feel the same without my heroes getting a little snarky back to me after a long, hard battle with lots of clicking.

Your memory is flawed. Annoyed sounds are not 'click-on' sounds. Never have been.

No, the OP is right. In the classic version, if you click on someone a few times in the they say their annoyed quote. I just tried it. I don't have EE.

Seems it's my memory that's flawed. :$
Yeah, the IE games have had it ever since Baldur's Gate 1. (I THINK that PS:T might have been the sole exception...)

But in any case, so nobody has any additional info about this? Or a potential mod/fix that I could do? I ran across another post on the Beamdog forums that was discussing custom soundsets and I might be able to workaround it by renaming the actual .wav files to trick the game into playing the right ones, but apparently if you do so the sounds and the subtitles will no longer match, so that's not an ideal solution either.

In the original Baldur's Gate 1&2 the characters didn't respond to your constant clicking over their sorry heads. They only repeated the same 4 dialogs in a loop, The trend of harasement reaction started with either Planescape Torment OR Icewind Dale. The thing that only Baldur's Gate 2 brought to the table (or continued since Planescape) is the banther and harasement between the characters... wich was more like Viconia insulting everyone aside from you XD.

As for IWD EE not having them, it is a bug present since the very first version launched by Beamdog. They never patched that thing so do not expect them fixing this mess. I don't know if it is a clusterf... related to the upgraded engine or because Beamdog for some reason deleted those lines of dialog.

I don't know if there is any mods that would work, but keep in mind that the entire Enhanced Edition series use an frankenstein of an engine that barely resembles the Infinity one, also Beamdong (once again, for some strange reason) keeps upgrading the engine and changing things that they shouldn't been touching (like the classes and weapons from Icewind Dale), with the end result that one mod could work now, but two months later it wouldn't.

My recommendation is simple, if you want the COMPLETE game, play the original, if you want the high resolution/4K/wide screen compatibility, and if you don't mind some clusterf... related to the overall game balance and removal of certain elements from the original game, play the Enhanced Edition.

Yes they did. I can remember some of the quotes. BG 1 & 2 had annoyed sounds too.

Yeah, ZFR is right. Do you not remember some classic annoyed lines from BG1 such as Xzar's "I ate his liver with a nice Chianti" or Jaheira's "What now? Need your pantaloons pressed?" or maybe Minsc's famous "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, WATCH IT, I'M HUGE!" line? I mean, that's two people now who forgot or never experienced it!

"Happy happy joy joy. Happy happy joy joy."

By the way, some non-NPCs had annoyed sounds too. You had to right click on them multiple times to hear them.

Then both of my versions are bugged then, because I have both games installed and before posting my original message I went full regalia with the harassement on my entire party (to avoid memory fu-ups) and everyone responded the same 4 or 5 dialogs in a loop. Unless the annoyeness(?) from the caracters start after repeating 6 or 7 times the dialog loop, then I don't know.

For the record I'm using both gog non enhanced versions.

For more record I never liked minsc... something about that giant space hamster seemed too weird... even for Faerun.

I'm using the 5CD disc version. Never tried the GOG one.

Wonder if it's something the GOG version missed then.
Yeah, it's working both in the EE and the original versions. It's possible that the GoG Complete version has something bugged then. How many times are you clicking on the characters, btw? In general it will loop through their selection dialogues about twice or thrice before the annoyed sounds start showing up.

Sorry for the delay, work can be a bish sometimes.

To answer your last question, I click over the characters right until the loop gets repeated about 8 times and no one ever express concern about my harasement. So it is either bugged or removed from the for the GOG version, wich is rare since I think both "Complete" packages are verbatim copies of the originals, unlike the Enhanced Editions that are overhauls/clusterf... of both game and engine.
The EE's have their pros and cons. On the one hand, I think it's good that they exist because otherwise these classics would be lost to future gamers because after a certain point, very few gamers will be willing to do too much work fiddling with virtual machines and clunky graphics engines just to get an old game working again, so preserving ease of access is important. On the other hand, I do agree that certain aspects of the original have been lost, such as these "annoyed" lines and other aspects changed (the pixelated border around a lot of older Infinity Engine sprites looks very noticeable when compared to sprites from more future games like Icewind Dale or BG2.)

Anyway, it seems that something did get lost/broken in translation, but maybe check to see if the original annoyed soundfiles still exist in the "Complete" packages. (There's a "Dwarven Male" voiceset that's pretty distinctive. One of his annoyed files is "Damn yer eyes!") As long as the data is still intact, there may be hope that one day a modder might create a mod that brings them back in.

That's why the classics were THE top selling items on GOG, is it? Why do you think Beamdog made sure you couldn't buy the classics without their (inferior) products? Pft!
