OK I'm at the start of chapter 5 of IWD and I'm thinking about the expansions - there seems to be a guy in Kuldahar who says he's got a job for us but we're too low level (well he HAS been saying that in the past, we may well be high enough by now)
Does he take you to one of the Expansion? Is that Trials of the Luremaster? Do you need to do that before you get too stuck into Chapter 6? Is Heart of Winter only startable from the main menu and importing chars or in there an in-game way to access it?
How big, in terms of main campaign chapters ARE the 2 expansions?
Many Cheersies!

As above, you can access it from Kuldahar. I believe your characters need to be level 12 minimum, but can't recall fir sure offhand.

Much smaller. Trials of the Luremaster was released, from what I understand, as a free DL because the devs felt they needed to apologize for the short HoW campaign. It's shorter than HoW. And the order of the campaigns, strictly speaking, is Original IWD, HoW, then TotL.

For reference (a slight spoiler, but nothing terrible): once you return to Easthaven at the end game, you cannot leave. So if you want to do HoW and TotL before finishing the original game, you'll have to make sure to do so before that point.

If you do complete the expansions before finishing the main game, your characters will be quite overpowered though.

I think that covers all of it - 5 reps for you!
I think I'll go do the expansions after I finish Chapter 5 then, I don't mind being overly 'roided up when I face the big bad, especially after facing some of the bosses in this game (ESPECIALLY as I also have Cave Story + in progress at the moment!)
Cheers!

I just finished IWD today, and yeah I also went to the expansions just before entering chapter 6. If I recall right, your characters must be minimum level 9 before you can enter HoW, but with higher difficulty levels I'd say at least 15 is probably preferable.

And when I entered HoW, you start Luremaster from there (a bit like an expansion to an expansion, one big "sub quest" in HoW), so I started Luremaster pretty much as soon as I started HoW, and only after that played rest of the HoW. But it doesn't matter that much I guess. Luremaster felt at first quite hard so early (in Insane difficulty), but I recall it also gave me loads of experience, so I also kept levelling up quite often during it.
