I took a break from my first party to try a second. I quickly realized I didn't want to start over from scratch, and tried to load the latest game with the original group. The game now CTDs whenever I load a game—after I click the [Done] option in the party screen but before the playable part of the game starts.

Running WinXP, no previous issues with the game, only change is the brief interlude with a different party.

EDIT: I will be humiliated until the end of time because there's a typo in the subject line. I know how to spell load.

Other saves load fine? Only this one is affected?
Does the error returns any specific message?
Are there any error logs in game folder (don't remember if IWD has them)?

Other saves load fine, so it was probably a corrupted file.
No error message, just blackness, CTD, and the Windows error reporting dialog.
No error logs that I've seen.

I don't know if we can call the problem solved, but I've deleted the bad save and resumed play from an earlier instance.

Having multiple saves is always the best fail-safe mechanism ;)
just leave this thread open, if someone post similar issue it can be picked up from there.
