Hi everyone!

I'm so happy to finally get IWD1+IWD2!! With Baldur's Gate saga, those have provided me nice good time and now, thanks to GoG, I was able to bring these experiences to my kid...however I can't run the games properly.

I'm suffering several issues, the main ones are:

1- Games runs ridicously slow
2- Some issues with text. If I play in a lower resolution then the text is not displayed properly (some here in the forums reported that already)

I guess that, perhaps, with some mods I could fix this. I've been reading some things here about several mods like Auril's Bane and others than fix bugs. I don't know if that could be a solution for me. However, even if they provide a solution there's another problem....¡¡¡¿HOW I DO TO INSTALL THEM???!! I've donwloaded a few of them but I don't know in wich folder I should unzip them.

Well, that's the whole story more or less...if anyone can help....many thanks in advance!!

I wouldn't install any mods until you get the game running properly.
First I would uninstal the game & then reboot your computer.
Then right click on Setup_Icewind_Dale_Complete_2.0.0.11.exe & "Run as Administrator"
On the first screen tick the EULA & select options on the bottom left.
Change the instal directory to C:\Games\Icewind Dale Complete.
Run the game & see if you still have problems.
If you do.
Go to your Icewind Dale Complete directory & run Setup-ddrawfix.exe & uninstal it.
Run the game & see how it goes.
If the game doesn't start,
Run Config.exe & on the Graphics page, select " Use OpenGL 3D Acceleration"
Then run the game.
Hi!

I've tried now, and it doesn't work...I've tried all the suggestions u said and still the same problem with the game...runs slowly, really slowly. Any other ideas? :(

Well untick "Use OpenGL 3D Acceleration" again

Then download & install the DXSDK from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6812

It will give you a way to disable Hardware Acceleration for Direct Draw.

Go to:
Start
All Programs
Microsoft DirectX SDK (June2010)
DirectX Utilities (Not the 64bit version)
DirectX Control Panel

On the DirectDraw Tab, untick Use Hardware Acceleration.
Eureka! It works now!!

Thank you very much!!!

PS: By the way, since now it works, could you please tell me were to unzip/install the mods? I guess, with that, all will be done!

All mods go in you Icewind Dale root directory.
They have their own subdirectories .
If the mod is a .exe, like iwdfixpack-v5.exe you can run the exe from anywhere, & where it says Destination folder, just browse to your C:\Games\IcewindDaleComplete directory (or where ever you installed it)
It will install & run the setup program automatically.
If the mod is a .rar or .zip etc
Unzip the to your C:\Games\IcewindDaleComplete directory.
They will have a seperate directory (or Folder) for the mod files & will put a setup-xxxx.exe in the root directoy.
Just run the setup for that mod & follow the instructions.
I alway run all mod setup files as administrator (including the .exe ones like fixpacks)
If it installs properly, you will see it in your WeiDU.log file.
Once again olnorton....thank you! You save my day :) This has been a truly christmas present!! Thanks again and merry christmas!
