First post here so excuse my poor performance. But i was wondering if anyone ever thought of getting the cursors from in the game onto their desktop? I would love this but not sure how it would be done. A google search doesnt seem to turn up much.

It should be possible. This Page shows how to change your cursor. You just have to have the IWD cursor as a choice in the Cursors file in your Windows folder. Unfortunately, I'm not sure where the cursor icon file is located in the IWD installation (if there even is one). But if you can find it, it would seem it would be an easy enough process to drop it into your cursors folder and be able to choose it. Likely it isn't that easy, but I see no reason why it couldn't be done somehow.

Yeah thats what i found as well. I just couldnt find where the cursors are. Or a simple pack with them. Hell even just finding pictures of them without anything else is a bit of a bitch.

If you open IDMain.exe with 7zip you can find a directory called CURSOR, but I don't know whether the files inside are in a useable format.

Right click on the .exe >> 7zip >> Open Archive. Don't bother, though, because the game cursors are not directly extractable from 7zip. Those cursor assets in the CURSOR folder are tables only.

Grrrr... I didnt think this would be so difficult. You woulda thunk someone else woulda done this already.

Does it have to be the specific IWD cursors, or is it gauntlet-like cursors you are looking for? You could get some gauntlet cursors based on the game Fate from here.

Although i did see that i was hoping to get the IWD specific ones, never played the game fate or wherever its from so its not as apealing as IWD that i actually played and love

If it's not possible (or easy) to extract the files directly from the game, would it be possible to do some screengrabs in-game and do some funky Photoshop job? Cursor over black fogged map for instance?

This is a good idea and probably the way to go. Since the Cursor icons are small anyway, it should be (relatively) easy enough to go about it the way you suggest.

On the old planetbaldursgate.com there was a Windows PST theme with mouse cursors supposedly pulled from the game.
