I am getting music at the title screen and sound of course from the game but the music plays then fades away (doesn't loop and stops randomly sometimes too) and there is no battle music. Anyone?

Ok I've had the same problem and I'm not even 100% sure I've fixed it, since from what I hear this game's behaviour with music is quirky.

In my case, it was the high quality soundtrack mod that caused the music to either interrupt all of a sudden or play the wrong track (I realised something was wrong when I noticed that every time I was in Kuldahar, very action-y music would play even though it was clearly supposed to be a serene environment). So I have uninstalled the mod, and music went back to normal (but I have to hit the right mouse button to get the intro videos to play music).
"Normal" means that a whole lot of the game is still without music, also because no music at all plays at night. There is no regular battle theme either, I believe, there are only tracks playing when you're facing big enemies or whole armies.

I THINK this is how it is supposed to be (intro issue aside), but we should wait for anyone who's played the original on old hardware to confirm or deny.
In the classic Icewind Dale only the battle music is looping, the rest (title, area music) play only once and are not repeated.
