I suggest you do *not* try. I was asking because Galaxy is the cause of many problems in games, including inability to start and crashing. If you had said "yes", I would have advised you to remove it.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), I don't have Windows 10, so I can't really advise anything regarding that -- it may be a W10 issue.

I don't think so, because others people play IWD2 on Win 10 without any problems. :/

Anyway, thank you for the interest my problem.
I hope it wil solve.

See if any of these solutions match your issue:
https://www.gog.com/support/icewind_dale_enhanced_edition/bgeneral_troubleshooting_guide_pc_windows_gamesb

If not, then on that page, on the right, is a link to contact support. That is GOG support. Submit your information, and they will try to help out.
If you can't get Icewind Dale II to work in Windows 10, try going into the game's main folder and deleting the "ddraw.dll" file. It should work after that. Just ran into the issue on my Windows 10 PC and it worked.

Thanks for the tip. I had a problem getting it to run in Windows 10 too and that fixed my particular issue. 'client.exe stopped working' when attempting to start the program.
In some installers, GOG.com includes DDRAWFIX by default. In others, it uses DirectDraw Emulation by setting compatibility options by using an Application Compatibility Toolkit Database. Some installers are completely vanilla. On Windows 10, including Creators Update 1703, I'm now playing Icewind Dale without any problems; all compatibility fixes have been removed, and rendering is set to OpenGL.

- Find and download the Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit. Install it, and run the 32-bit version. Remove any databases regarding Icewind Dale (if any).
- Go into the Icewind Dale installation directory and run setup-ddrawfix.exe, and uninstall it (if there, and installed).
- Find Icewind Dale in the Start Menu. Rightclick -> Open File Location. Rightclick -> Properties -> Compatibility. Remove all compatibility options.
- Start the Config program and set the rendering to OpenGL..

Make sure the drivers for your graphics card arre updated for compatibility with Windows 10 1703 (if needed).

I've been playing Icewind Dale without any problems for days now. No crashes, slowdowns, and no graphical glitches. The only minor bug I've seen is that Fire Salamanders burn again when reloading a game. (For example: kill some Fire Salamanders, save, then reload, and the dead Salamanders will burn until the bodies finally disappear.) It could be that they do so without OpenGL rendering as well, but I'm in no mood to reconfigure the game to check. Can't remember from way back when I was last in Lower Dorn's Deep.... two years ago.

PS: I also have DirectX 9.0c installed, as one of my other games requires some files from it, but I don't know if this necessary for Icewind Dale in Windows 10. In Windows Vista, almost a decade ago, it was essential, at least for my setup back then.

Good luck.

gog support got it for me:

Please open Run Command (you can do it by pressing WinKey+R) - > type: control - > press ok - > go to Programs - > Programs and Features, click the Turn Windows features on or off link, find the Legacy components on the list, enable DirectPlay and click OK to install it.
