It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

[EDIT] -- I figured out my question...how to enable HoF mode on the Mac. For help to anyone who wants to, here is how:

1. Go to your Applications folder, find the Icewind Dale icon, and control-click to select "Show Package Contents"
2. Navigate to: > Contents > Resources > drive_c > GOG Games > Icewind Dale Complete
3. Open up the "icewind.ini" file using textedit.
4. Add the line (without quotes of course): "Nightmare Mode=1"

That is it. Next time you start up the difficulty slider will be fixed on insane and you are in HoF mode.

[/EDIT]

[ORIGINAL MESSAGE:]

I cant figure out how to start Heart of Fury mode on IWD from GOG either. I am on a mac and is Wineskin making this all more complicated?

I'm reading references to how its possible to play in this mode, but I see no checkbox at all for HoF mode in the Options > Gameplay screen. The difficulty slider ends at insane and there is nothing else, no box for HoF anywhere on that screen. I have beaten the game on insane difficulty so HoF mode should be available right?

I found the config.exe file at:

Applications > Icewind Dale > Contents > Resources > drive_c > GOG Games > Icewind Dale Complete

but if you click on this, nothing happens other than my unzip-type program trying to unpack it (its more like a windows .exe file that wont run on a mac).

Is there a text preferences file somewhere else on the mac where I set HoF mode to 1 instead of 0 or something? If so I can't find it.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks :)! I was playing IWD recently, but found it so mind-numbingly easy on Insane that I had to quit midway through that undead temple :(. (My party was 4 multiclass characters). Maybe I'll give it another go on HoF.
Insane is easier than normal on the long run because you get double XP and with only 4 characters you level even faster.
If you want a challenge don't take unrealistically high physical stats (especialy not more than 14 dex and con for anyone)
and disable max HP at level up.
