I played IWD many years ago, after BG1, and found it perfectly fine, on whatever difficulty setting was default, I think. Certainly it included AOE damaging your own people. It was a good bit more combat focussed than BG1, but not remotely unfair. Now I see lots of reviews whinging about how hard / unfair it is. Have Beamdog actually broken the game balance at ''core rules' or whatever a normal challenge level is in the EE version? Or is this people complaining about 'the dice' beating them because they are used to ARPGs and haven't worked out that D&D depends on the Character's stats, not the players awesome reflexes in combat?
I do seem to remember that rushing headlong into a mob was not a particularly good strategy, but then, when was it ever?
