Hello I installed game on my laptop with win 10 with help of guide written by Zeckul. I tried everything but game still works kinda weird, a bit slow and laggy. It looks like a problem related to refreshing becase im able to play the game but this small and frequent "freezes" are a bit annoying. I tried to use this dde thing both from compability toolkit and by installator. Game became even WORSE than before. Mouse coursor dissapears occasionally and i see a lot of artifacts on the game screen. Do you know any fixes for performance. I almost gave up. Still thank you for any answers. Cya!

P.S
I use win 10, nvidia graphic card
Game version is 2.01 (101615), polish language. Installed from DVD (golden edition if i remember corectly).

It may not even be a possible solution given all the constraints Microsoft put into everything they touch, but you could try to upgrade to Windows 7.

(yes, upgrade).
I have windows 7 on my PC and the game works fine. On my laptop which im using during the study year i have windows 10. It works much better with the touchscreen devices so i cant "upgrade" :/. I maybe finish the game before i move again, play the laggy version (which works ok but still pretty annoying) or figure out something. Still thank you for answer and maybe someone has a different idea :D.

Win10x64 desktop here and the game (GOG version) runs like a top--no problems at all. Laptops in general are not good platforms for gaming--they aren't made for gaming, no matter the advertising they use to convince you otherwise. Your problems sound like a problem with your nVidia GPU driver and the game--but I would also highly recommend you scrap the DVD version and install the GOG version as the GOG games are rejiggered to run on current operating systems. That actually may be your only problem. Get the GOG version and if that doesn't work you can work backwards from there, starting with your GPU driver. With the GOG version I had to do nothing special at all--I installed it and it ran fine, first time. No compatibility mode needs to be set, except for Run as Admin. Good luck! RX-480 8GB GPU, 16GB's system ram, AMD FX-8320e, Win10x64 version 1703, build 16241.
This guide is relating to Win 7, but it came up in a search for Win 10, it might help https://zeckul.wordpress.com/2012/01/10/icewind-dale-2-ultimate-installation-guide/

(And yes, I know it says IWD 2, but the steps >might< be the same)

Always take guides (or anything else for that matter) that have the word "ultimate" as a descriptor with a pinch of salt.

Thanks to IE Modding Communities and dedicated players, You can find the answers in SHS forum:

- DDraw Fix (For Slowdowns/Stuttering) by Aqrit
http://www.shsforums.net/topic/48732-ddraw-fix-for-slowdownsstuttering/

Here is the short version( All credits belong to the original authors ):

A.)What cause the stuttering?

Mainly 1.) Direct3d acceleration incompatibility

2.) Multiple-core processor

B.)How can I solve this?

1.) On Direct3d acceleration

The basic solution is to force the game to use DirectDraw instead of Direct3d, however, the method depends on your OS.

-1a.) If you are running winxp

Aqrit's DDrawFix or MS Application Compatibility Toolkit is your best choice.
http://bitpatch.com/ie_ddrawfix.html

-1b.) If you are running win8 or later

Try Aqrit's amazing DDwrapper
http://bitpatch.com/ddwrapper.html

And thank Leland for his post which makes DDwrapper work on both IWD2 and PS:T
http://www.shsforums.net/topic/48732-ddraw-fix-for-slowdownsstuttering/page-6#entry569502

2.) On Multiple-core processer

Sometimes, even with Aqrit's Fix, the game still might be a little "jerky" if not very laggy. All you need to do is to set process affinity in Windows Task Manager.

Open the Task Manager and select Icewind Dale II( right click)--> Go to details--> IWD.exe( right click)--> Set Affinity --> *Toggle* All processors

**** When in doubt, check the IE Modding Communities FIRST! :)

Tested both IWD2 and PS:T on Win8.1 with UAC disabled, the result seems to be quite satisfied... :P
