I was never able to get EAX working with ALchemy with my Creative X-Fi card. So I thought I was clever and thought I could use EAX audio if I installed XP on either VirtualBox or VMWare Player. I tried Baldur's Gate 1 and Icewind Dale 2, but I couldn't select EAX in either game on either emulator.

Has anyone had luck using EAX with a virtual machine?

I got EAX working in VMWare Player by updating the Creative driver, but no luck with VirtualBox.

You are replying to an 18 month old post, from a poster who has never posted anything else going by their rep.

I don't remember what I tried for VirtualBox, but for VMWare virtual machine settings, I have "Use default host sound card" selected, which is a Creative X-Fi Gamer.

I think I installed SBPCI_WebDrvsV5_12_01.exe from Creative's website to the guest (Windows XP). At least that's what I have in the folder with the games I was testing EAX with. Device Manager has it listed as Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM), driver version 5.1.2535.0. EAX for games like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale was working last time I checked a year and a half ago.
