Whenever I attempt to import a character into the game I get the following error:

Specs of the machine in question:

P8400 2.26 Ghz Core 2 Duo Penryn
4 GB RAM @ 800 mhz
NVIDIA 9200M GS
Windows 7 Ultimate x64-86

If anyone else has experienced and solved this issue I'd love to hear what worked for them.

The game itself runs perfectly, it's just when attempting to import characters that it chokes.

EDIT: Found a solution of deleting the .res files which deletes all the characters biography details. While this works it's still less than ideal, but suppose it will have to suffice unless someone knows of another option.

I get the same thing. It must be something to do with the game not being able to edit the RES files properly because even just try to save an edited version of a character's biography in the character creation screen will cause it to crash to desktop. But otherwise, the game itself runs fine. Your characters will simply have to have generic biographies lol.

Edit: Nevermind. It's because of anti-virus behaviour-based shields. Turn it off or add IWD.exe as an exception and you should be able to edit and import characters with their biographies.

Does running the game under compatibility mode, Windows XP SP3, and launching it as administrator, help?

Personally, I don't think I've had much issues with the antivirus, though. So far :)
