Hi, can anyone help? I get this message on startup:

"Could not find a Direct 3D device that supports the XNA Framework HiDef profile"

Apparently my PC is too old - or is there a workaround? (Beyond getting a new PC/graphics card)

My Mac (late 2011) is a lot newer, but (running VirtualBox) I get the same message. Any Virtual Box wizards know a workaround?

Or, has anyone managed to run it via Wine?

Try updating DirectX and videocard drivers and use Windows update to get the NET/XNA frameworks.

You might want to check the technical specifications of your graphics card as some will not support the XNA Framework HiDef profile despite having the latest drivers and the Microsoft XNA Framework installed :/

Thanks for your replies. :)

Everything else is up-to-date (on 32-bit XP, ha!) but I didn't have the latest "compatible" NVidia drivers - but installing those failed and mucked up my machine. I reinstalled the old ones. :(

It's a really old card. 6600GT with only 128MB of VRAM. Now that I read the small print, that's somewhat short of the 512MB needed. For a 2D shooter, seems crazy to me, but then I'm very old school. :/

In summary, my Mac is my only hope. I'll repeat my original question: anyone have any luck installing this game with Wine and/or VirtualBox? :D

Well the bad news was that I badly needed to upgrade my graphics card. :-(

The good news is that it runs like a champ on the new one. :-D
