Hm... the game runs fine for me, in all its gory-neon-pixel glory, fluid as heck, to boot...
Maybe you could share your specs so the community might be able to help you figure out a solution? That, or submitting GOG Support a trouble ticket.
It seems the Mac version of the game has a bug in which the game crashes often as soon as you get a x5 combo or higher, but I heard nothing on the PC or Linux versions.

I've been reading the troubleshooting thread on Steam. It appears that I'm not the only one with this problem. At least the developers are aware of it and working on a solution. I figure I'll just wait until they come up with a patch.
