Just wanted to chime in as well and add my thanks. I would love to see GOG release the soundtrack just to throw money at the artists, but this works until then. :)

I bought HLM2 off Humble Store. So I got it DRM-free + the Steam key. My brother is probably going to grab the GOG version though.

I also went ahead and bought the HLM2 ost ($15 USD) via Steam, which kicks mad ass. Every bit worth it.
Agreed. With the first HLM, I listened to the .ogg files. Then, I purchased the ost via Steam.

I would buy the soundtrack if it came to GOG or directly from the developers. By the way ... why does GOG not offer it? I was looking to buy the official soundtrack, except steam.

I would buy it from almost any other source than Steam...Requiring users to have the game on Steam in order to buy the soundtrack seems silly if they offer it elsewhere (i.e. GOG.com).

I'm not buying the games again just so I can buy the soundtrack. I would love to have 'legitimate copies' though.

Anybody know if anything is in the works to get the soundtracks on platforms other than Steam?

Unfortunately, so far, except for the DLC soundtrack on Steam and the bonus EP included in the GOG Digital Special Edition, the only official thing I could find was Jasper Byrne's own Hotline Miami 2 EP on bandcamp... which, when added to the GOG EP, leaves us with a mere 11 tracks. I wonder if there's some copyright issue going on, since they used contributions from so many musicians, and only a few are willing to make their songs available. Then again, Black Pants is a much smaller studio than Devolver and yet they managed to release an awesome soundtrack with a huge load of artists for their game, Tiny & Big...

I sincerely hope Devolver Digital will eventually decide to release the soundtrack for Hotline Miami on bandcamp or even iTunes or whatever, since I, like a lot of people, don't feel comfortable buying from Steam, especially when they treat an OST as if it was some sort of DLC and require you to buy the game first...

It's a shame that, for the time being, we're stuck with the in-game .ogg files, the soundtrack on this one is so much better than the one for the first Hotline Miami...

Yeah I am really enjoying this one a lot, even moreso than the first one for sure. The Remix EP is pretty cool too.

I know at least for the first one it was possible to track down all but 4-5 tracks on bandcamp by piecing together individual tracks from the various artist's pages, but this one is a lot more extensive.

Also, kudos for recommending the Tiny and Big soundtrack... I had not heard that one before and it is pretty good from the 2-3 tracks I have heard so far.

+1 for Bandcamp. Isn't iTunes DRM protected?

I would suggest not to buy from iTunes. Tracks are protected with DRM and the Windows application is awful.
Bandcamp is completely DRM-free and tracks are CD-quality.

I would buy uncompressed digital soundtrack. I've only found the soundtrack on vinyl, costs 60$.

I checked out Jasper Byrne's tracks on Bandcamp. It was a big factor in me purchasing the full soundtrack off Steam. It contains 30+ songs, of which I copied 11 to my phone. Yeah, it's THAT good!

I don't know if it has been mentioned here but simply use wad extractor posted on the Steam forums and elsewhere (its on github). Extract hlm2_data_desktop.wad and pluck out all the ogg files. Presto, soundtrack you already paid for when you bought the game, just like HM1.
