According to the Escapist Hotline Miami 2 has bee refused classification meaning banned. (The R+18 does nothing)

So my question is what does this mean for Australian customers who buy the game from GOG.

I think the classification board when it comes to reviewing games side of things, Need people who have knowledge about games

and seriously there's movies which have rape scenes, So why not banned those?

Well duh, because there you can see actual people simulating rape. You know that they are actors, right? But in games the immersion is SO powerful, it's hard to tell real rape apart from two sprites ~32x32 in size rubbing each other when one of these sprites is your avatar. Not only do video games trivialize rape but once you've played a game with a rape scene you will have the knowledge that you have performed rape and are more likely to repeat the crime. Just wait and see, everywhere in the world rape will go up after the release of Hotline Miami 2 - excluding Australia, obviously.

Well of course not like where a buncha kids that are after the game since they usually can't tell the difference between real life and a game.

Here in China, it's illegal to own a video game console but you saw PSPs everywhere in the early 2000's, it shows you how seriously people took that law. Fast forward to today, mobile phones have replaced the function of portable video game consoles, PC gaming is still legal like it always was but owning a video game console is still illegal? Yeah, doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?

It's not just lawmakers though. While I was in the UK, I remember people I worked with shunning censorship but when they see something they don't like, their first thought is "it should be banned". Same thing with ""The government should get out of our lives" or "down with the nanny state" yet when there's a problem in society, they turn round and say "The government should do something about it". I'm sure this happens in other countries too.

Yeah, you can play Mario 64 on a years-old handheld. It blows Angry Birds out of the water. I think there's interface stuff that gamers would want but Joe Phone User doesn't want, and you can't have it both ways. And I don't really know if anyone really wants their smartphone choice to be constrained to one of 2-3 gaming devices, either.

About the OP, it's nice that the developers ask you if you want to toggle the content off right at the beginning. I guess if the plot holds up without it, then it's probably totally disposable and thrown in for the lulz, which kind of undermines the whole point. But whatever.

Anyway, the thing that's weird about the US is that sexual body parts are where the line is drawn exactly. You can depict rape and you can depict sex with consent, but you can't show genitals either way. So Mortal Kombat can reboot with lots of crazy fatalities, but you can't show some couple getting it on.

In theory, the combination of sex and violence might have some influence on how it's received, but in practice, everything's fair game as long as we can't see genitals. You have to go to HBO if you want full nudity.
