Just bought the game today. Everytime I try to run the game, after it's incredibly laggy. The splash screens and main menu runs at a maximum of 10 fps when the resolution is set to the lowest possible option (320x200) and everything else is on low. Resetting the options to default doesn't help.
I'm almost 100% positive that the issue doesn't involve my pc specs. I can run other games such as The Witcher 3, Shadow of Mordor perfectly fine, at a constant 60 fps. And according to the game's specification requirements, I should be more than able to run the game.

The game also often crashes when loading the main menu.

Any suggestions as what to do?

I'm running the game on a desktop computer with windows 10 enterprise (64-bit) with the following specs:


CPU
Intel Core i7 2600 @ 3.40GHz
Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology

RAM
16,0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz (11-11-11-28)


Graphics
K272HL (1920x1080@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics (ASRock)
4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (ASUStek Computer Inc) 36 °C
ForceWare version: 382.05
SLI Disabled

I think the sepcs should work easily, but your graphics driver is WAY outdated. There were lots of critial security fixes since then, and bug fixes of course. Try 385.69 and see whether it gets any better.

Ok, so I updated my graphics driver to 385.69, it's hard to tell if there is any improvements, but if there is, it's not easy to notice.

Main menu is at 2 fps (low settings; 1920 x 1080 resolution).
Any other ideas?

Weird. I do have a i7-2600K around with a GTX780, I'll have a look. Do you, by any chance, have your Intel HD card in device manager? Maybe your BIOS does not turn it off and the game picks it up, no idea. Mine does not show up (and it really shouldn't). I'll install the game on the old box, just ned to get a Windows there first :)

Now that you mention it, it actually does show up in device manager. I remember having the same issue with back when I tried to run Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. It ran on (and was locked to) the Intel HD card. I think I know what to do now. Thanks!

I remember fixing the issue by using a standalone nvidia software. The problem is I don't have it on my pc anymore, and I forgot what it was called. It doesn't require installation, it's a single .exe file. Does that ring a bell? Otherwise I will have to dig around until I find said software.

No, it doesn't - I try to stay away from any bloatware if possible. I think you should try to see if you can disable the on-chip Intel graphics in your BIOS, that would fix the problem for all games.

If that doesn't work, disabling the Intel card in device manager should hopefully do the trick.

Just wanted to update on what has happened.
So, I had recently gotten a new monitor that uses VGA to connect to the PC, compared to my old monitor which used HDMI.

The issues was not with Hob, drivers or any such thing. But I connected my screen to my motherboard rather than my nvidia GPU (which uses DVI-I or HDMI).

The games that I mentioned (Witcher 3 etc.) ran normally BEFORE the monitor switch. Hob just happened to be the first game that I tried since changing monitors.

Tl dr:
Bought a VGA to DVI-I kabel and connected monitor to nvidia video card. Everything works now.
Solved.
