I've abandoned my quest to recover my saves, no dev responded anyway.

The game has no sound when I switched to using my nvidia graphics card (1060 on laptop). When I set it to use the Intel graphics there is sound. Any ideas why or what is wrong?

Totally fishing in the dark here, but maybe sound is routed to HDMI/DP, did you verify that? Windows has a tendency to mess this up pretty bad ...
Hi there,

I also would suggest checking the devices in windows. Sometimes this gets messed up. On my notebook I had a similar issue.
Setting the device you want to use as Default.
Disable Digital Audio/Monitor/HDMI

Or maybe rolling back the nvidia driver?

I am as well fishing in the dark - sorry if that doesn't help as well

Best wishes

Critney
I thought I posted a follow up, but I don't see it. Just in case anyone else runs into a similar problem all I did to fix the problem was verify the files. Not sure why the graphics card used caused the sound not to work, but verifying the files was quicker than reinstalling.

edit: Stopped working again.

Well my sound is gone again. I even ran the Verify & Repair tool and still no sound. Any ideas? The only chage to my PC was switching out my cable modem, so the network name changed. A dev or gog response would be nice, otherwise I'll just request a refund and hope it gets fixed or repaired by the time it goes on sale someplace.

OP, sorry about that! We've been swamped trying to address issues and respond to requests. What was the issue you were running into? Did you email support@runicgames.com? If so, can you message me your ticket number?

As for the audio issue, that's a strange one! We'd definitely like to know more about it.

Sorry to hear about your problem. This game just has been released and as the devs said it's understandable that they now are trying to adress as many issues as they can. You have contacted GOG support because you bought this game here but I highly doubt they can help you here because obviously there is a compatibility issue between your card and the hob sound which seems to work sometimes but mostly not (I doubt the reason for it to work once was actually the verifying of the game files). So I would strongly suggest that you follow the devs request instead. Regarding GOG support in general: sometimes it helps to remind them that there is still an unsolved ticket - but that is more of a general advice since I am quite sure that runic is the better adress in this case. Good luck!
I tried running the game at 1920x1080 windowed and the sound worked. So I tried 2560x1440 fullscreen and ithe sound worked. Finally tried 2560x1440 fullscreen window (which is what I was originally using) and the sound is working. Didn't reboot or change anything (maybe a few less open chrome tabs). I'm running with 32 gig ram and swap / page file is off, I wouldn't think memory is an issue (could be wrong though).

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Having enough memory (and with 32GB of RAM you obviously have enough I'd say) and needing a pagefile sometimes are two different kind of shoes. There are some games out there (no idea if that is the case with hob) which simply do expect a pagefile. It's also a good idea to close all other programs especially when you are experienciong problems in a game. If some of those programs should be the culprit it's nearly impossible for support to figure this out. Well let's just hope it is working for longer now. Have fun and enjoy this great game :)
