Hi

Wanted to play this old classic and ran into problems with this game. Found some solutions but haven’t found the one that works for me. The issue with the game is that I can't move in the game. I can only move the camera up and down and select a item. I found a solution to change the one line in .ini fail to DrawDll RenderOpenGL.dll. The game works now but the videos aren’t playing correctly. It just flashes and shutters when the video is playing. Any one has a working solution to this game that would be helpful. Thank you.

I was having the same problem, but only in the training area. I used nvidia inspector to limit the framerate to 60 fps and the problem went away. I hope that works for you too.
Latest NVidia drivers have option to limit FPS to any desired value. But i can't check since can't run game in Direct3D.

I highly recommend downloading and installing MSI afterburner with Rivatuner statistics server. With this you can add a hard frame cap to any 3d application (which to my understanding is the main cause of most of the issues with Contracts) cap it to something like 144 or 120 and it should make the game overall much more stable, though I am currently looking for a widescreen fix.
I found this on the web and it seems to work great for all the issues everyone is experiencing including my self. I run win 11 with an I9, 64 gigs ram and a lousy 4gig gpu that is only being used until the prices come down.

First make a copy of your HitmanContracts.ini file, in case it does not work for you.

Replace your whole .ini file with the following and it should work great like it did for me.

DefaultScene=AllLevels\Logos.gms
SoundDll SoundEngine.dll
ScriptDll sdl_engine.dll
scriptifdll scriptinterfaces.dll
DrawDll RenderD3D.dll
SoundRender Direct Sound (SW)

ColorDepth 32
Antialias 0

StartUpperPos 2,2

InvertMouse 0

SpeechVolume 100
MusicVolume 100
SoundEffectsVolume 100

AutoDumpName dump0000.jpg
TextureResolution 0
NumSoundBuffers 64
UseEAX 0
DrawDistance 1.000000
Subtitles 1
WeatherEffects 1

DisablePolyLimit
DisableBump 0
GammaValue 1.000000
LevelOfDetail 2
ShadowDetail 2

VibrationMode 0
PostFilterLOD 2
WeatherMultiplier 1.000000
Resolution 1920x1080
DisableTrilinearFiltering 1
Anisotropy 1
MouseSpeedX 2.025480
MouseSpeedY 2.025480
EnableCheats 1

And that is all folks. Good luck all.

P.S.
to use the cheat codes in game, pres the shift and escape key simultaneously.
you can change the resolution to 720p in the ini file and it will work without changing anything else. just don go back to the in game options menu after that as it will cause the direct3d render to crash immediately.

Also, set it Windows XP 2 in the compatibility settings on the exe's properties if you're not using gog galaxy.

I tried it with the 720p settings and it lags and locks. Have to wait up to a minute at a time for it to catch up.
Would have been nice if it worked on my machine for the larger fonts. But alas it does not.
Thank-You for the suggestion though. Wish it would have worked. :(
Same here, no controls. None of the above fixed it. Looks like GOG renaged on their "it works" promise once again!
I have found that the fixes by Wile_ECoyote does not fix all the problems for people who have wide screens. My changes to the ini file is slightly different. I changed the Resolution to 1024 x 768 and added after the last line "Window 1". In addition, you must change the desktop Resolution to the same (i.e. 1024 x 768). DO NOT change the in-game Resolution or your game window gets smaller. And you don't have to modify Nvidia Profile Inspector. You get all the cut-scenes and with no flickering that occurs when starting a new episode. The only down-side is the black bar on the left-side and the right-side of the screen. I played all of the episodes of the game and found no glitches or any problems loading a saved game. My desktop Resolution Is normally set on 2560 x 1440 @ 150% using Windows 10. My Hitman 3 Contracts' Configuration Settings (or ini file) replacement changes are as follows:

DefaultScene=AllLevels\Logos.gms
SoundDll SoundEngine.dll
ScriptDll sdl_engine.dll
scriptifdll scriptinterfaces.dll
DrawDll RenderD3D.dll
SoundRender Direct Sound (SW)
