Okay, so I was trying to download the soundtrack for HOMM2, but everytime it would finish downloading something odd would happen.
Might and Magic VII (oh how I love that game) would open up, and display the "please insert disk" message. I tried again with the disk inserted, but it would still crash. For some reason, my laptop is content with using MM7 for the task. Can anyone help???

I'm not sure i understand the problem.
When you unzip the folder with the soundtrack audio files, which format are they in ? .mp3 ?
Edit: You are unzipping the file you downloaded before trying to listen to the audio tracks inside, right ?

I couldn't even get to that point before. For some reason my laptop was trying to use MM7 to open the soundtrack. After uninstalling the game, I finally got the soundtrack downloaded (didn't think to save *smacks self in face*). I just got a new zip program so I'm trying to work that out in the meantime

Ah, yes, when you click on the download link you must choose the option 'Save' to store the .zip file on your PC.
If you need a program to deal with zip files, 7zip is quite good and it's also free.

I'm actually using 7zip now. I had a free trial for bitzip before, but it expired and I figured why pay for something I only use periodically. But now, some songs work and others don't. They are all in .mp3 format, the only difference I can see is that the working files have a different image and have more information about the song in the details. I think I need to edit the tags...

Yes, some trracks do in fact have missing tags and that can cause problems with some players - Windows Media Player being one of them.
And yes, editing the tags will fix the issue. You can do it manually or use something like MP3tag.
