HoMM 3 HD MOD

I didn't find that mod mentioned anywhere else in here.

Make sure you run the HD launcher as admin once installed.
You should chose to play windowed in the HD launcher - or else the actual map is surrounded by big borders.
Just compared both screenshots and decide for yourself.

HELP

I got the mod, I have the game from Steam, but it can't find the game on my files and it won't do anything :(

The Steam version is a whole different beast. It's missing the expansion packs, it has a different binary, and is incompatible with mods. Refund it if you still can.

This is peculiar. I just bought homm3 and downloaded the mod from, https://sites.google.com/site/heroes3hd/eng/download (using the main link).

Uploading it to virustotal gave me 2 positives, https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/3f0cbb29a09bac04747d236a6bdbeb1a16dae7fed51828e3157c1f5bee78dc3c/detection

The developer didn't put a version number on the file. Looks like since your post the patch changed.

I'm going to hold back on installing this mod.

any of you have problems saving with the hd mod? i can save without the mod and the autosave works, but i cant make a save file.. when i try to it just come up 111-112 and so on..

Hey everyone, when I start Homm3 wether it's with or without HD mod, my cpu just goes ballistic. The cores go to 80-90 degrees celcius which is too high and ridiculous for a game with this specs. Any ideas on how I could solve this?

Depends, does this happen with anything else? If so, it could be a fan being blocked by dust or some other hardware issue.

There is an ini option for HD Mod <Sys.CPU.ReduceUsage> = 1
I remember seeing it in the lancher's GUI at some moment but now it definitely is available through ini editing only.
Try it, may be this will solve your problem.

Can not comment on the unmodded game behavior, though.

doest enyone know how to install hd+ and hota without any problems ... ? ? ? ? ? ?
I ve tried so many time to reinstall h3 and downloaded again and again in defferent folders because when i tried to install hd and hota it always pops up a message that THE GAME WAS MOVED OR DETELED ....
for some reason by default always hota or hd shows that the game is in game C wich is fucking noooooooooot thereeeeeeeeeeeee......(sorry for emotional moment) i ve look maybe there are hidden files, or installed the game in C and didnt work.........
i bought heroes 3 complete from gog

If I remember right when I last did it, I just installed HoMM3 Complete, then installed HotA into the game's folder (I probably already had the HDmod installed). Then when the HDmod is updated I just install it over the existing version in the same folder.

When launching the HDmod there should be a dropdown list for "Heroes3.exe", "h3hota.exe", and "h3wog.exe" if you've installed WoG. Select the "h3hota.exe" from the list and click play for Horn of the Abyss.


If you're still trying to install them, to help avoid any confusion you might have, I'd suggest uninstalling all related things (Heroes 3, HotA, Mods for the game). Also ensure you don't install games into some Windows or System related folder as installing games into them will often lead to problems especially with older games.

Then install Heroes 3 Complete into a games folder, then install the HDmod into that that folder too and check if it works, then install HotA into that same folder and see if you can select it from the list in HDmod.

Also just incase, use the normal offline installers, don't use Galaxy or something like that to install.

Just guessing here ...

Could the problem be with the Windows registry? Go into Windows "Settings > Apps > Apps & Features". Is there an entry for Heroes of Might & Magic III? (I, with a retail CD copy of HoMM3, do have one.) If so then Windows does have a registry entry for the game, and maybe the mod installer is going to that entry to discover where Windows thinks the base game was installed.

So as part of uninstalling "ALL related things", select that entry then click its UNINSTALL button.
