what happen with artifacts that i get after i had no empty slots? their bonuses counts?

I thought you just couldn't pick them up at all if you didn't have the back pack space for them. Of course, it's been more than a decade since I last got even close to that situation.

I'm actually not sure about picking them up...

However if you defeat a hero with more artifacts than you have empty slots (happened a few times) the extra ones seem to be lost forever.

However if you defeat a hero with more artifacts than you have empty slots (happened a few times) the extra ones seem to be lost forever.
For that, I think the rest of the artifacts just stay on the defeated hero. But again, it has been over a decade since I've been even close to that situation.

That might be possible. But you do get a message "You got enemy artifacts". I've never had the chance to hire a defeated hero this way, so can't be sure.
