Hi,

Could anyone please tell me what exactly determines whether a hero can or cannot pray at an adventure map temple? I'm really curious. It obviously seems to be determined by your allegiance, but in the last level of Order campaign, Emilia and Solmyr cannot pray at a nature altar, while Kodge strangely can (he doesn't have nature magic secondary skill).

A given hero will gain bonus morale from any temple that either matches the hero's alignment or that is friendly to the hero's alignment. This leaves Might heroes out of luck, with regard to temples.

So a Nature hero will get +2 morale from a Nature temple, while his Life and Chaos buddies get +1 from the Nature temple. If the trio instead visit a Chaos temple, the Chaos hero will get +2 from the CT, the Nature hero will get +1 from the CT, and the Life hero will get nothing out of it.

The alignment wheel, visible when you go to hire a hero at a Tavern, can be circled to see which alignments are friendly or opposed to which other alignments.

Life -> Nature -> Chaos -> Death -> Order -> Life. Each alignment likes those adjacent, and dislikes those not adjacent. I believe Might is sort of neutral to everyone.

BTW, be wary of mixing creatures/heroes that have opposing alignments or they'll have lower morale. I haven't experimented to determine the details. This also applies to mixing hero and creature alignments (death hero leading a nature army).

Thank you. This explains why in a lawful temple this Kodge fellow only got +1 morale, while everyone else had +2.

By the way, is there any way of determining a hero's allignment after hiring him? You can obviously see their alignment in a Tavern, but what about after hiring? I suppose it's not so important in single maps where you hire your heroes out of taverns, but in campaigns you start with pre-allocated ones.

For any creature or hero, look at the ring of color around their portrait. The color indicates the unit's alignment.

Purple = Life
Green = Nature
Orange = Chaos
Grey = Death
Blue = Order
Red = Might

In combat, heroes of a particular alignment and (original) focus (might or magic) will have the same model, perhaps adjusted slightly if they have a ranged attack (ex. order might heroes start with a sword, which becomes a crossbow if/when they acquire a ranged attack). As a side note, it has always amused me how some heroes end up melee attacking by whacking an opponent with the arm of a crossbow.

Generally speaking, the alignment of any campaign hero you get is likely to match the alignment of the campaign itself. I can't think of any exceptions, though I haven't played any of the expansion campaigns (yet).

Or how dwarf and halfling heroes look human.

Kodge in the order campaign.
I just checked the previous level, and all other heroes portraits are indeed blue. His is the only purple one.

Ah yes. The Order campaign, where they're all "HERE! HAVE HEROES! LOTS OF LOTS OF HEROES! HAVE ALL THE HEROES!!"
