Is it worth installing the HD mod? Any pros/cons? Does it not work with certain stuff? What does it add exactly?

What it adds is ability to select screen resolution and various filters, auto-save before each battle, and no CD check.

I cant't think of any reason not to use it. I've had absolutely no problems with it, and the games definitely look much better than the original versions, which will look blurred and stretched on modern monitors.

It works with the basic game plus the two expansions, and with some work you can even play the Heroes Chronicles with it by playing them as Custom campaigns.

It may not work with mods like WOG and Horn of the Abyss and such, but such newer mods may have native support for Widescreen for all I know.

It's designed to work with Horn of the Abyss. So much so that it has a dedicated multiplayer lobby for it.

I dont know about anyone else, but I had the HD mod installed already. Tried to update it and Bitdefender blocked the auto update, so I went to the main page and downloaded and tried to install it. And bitdefender stopped it, and made me reboot to clean whatever it was it found. I have been using Bitdefender quite a few years now, it rarely has false positives, and I have never had it do that before.

So I would say use at your own risk.

Norton refused to download the HD install file stating that it was a Trojan. I downloaded it anyway and ran it through a different virus detection program that confirmed the Trojan. So I would say don' t use it.

Norton/Symantec is false positives galore. Remove it from your system, it just takes up resources with no use.

More knowledgeable among you might know that installers and advanced compression systems often can't be properly scanned, so I just simply sent a zip containing the Heroes III HD launcher exe and DLL. When I run this from the shortcut it created Malwarebytes block says a trojan. It's trying to connect to a web page?
